B.J Upton looking the same as last year. Dude is terrible. Of course it's only spring training but damn he looks the same.

Yes, I'm watching on Fox Sports Midwest (no idea why direct tv is blacking out Fox Sports South but not MIdwest) and the cards announcers were making fun of BJ and his swing. Something about swinging from the heels with two strikes.

Mejia just got a single which should have been a double if Mejia didn't run like most guys walk.

Freddy not quite as bad as the boxscore says. Third run was garbage, error by nLaStella stolen base where a good throw would have got him, wild pitch and bloop hit. Molina and Holiday got him for RBI doubles in the first, but those guys can hit just about anyone.

Freddy's got nice movement on his junk, which is all he's got left. If he can't locate he's screwed. Looked like Molina and Holiday both hit good pitches.

BJ looks totally without a clue vs Lynn. And LaStella needs to swing the bat, called out again.

Ask Ms. Garcia.

Disagree with both of you... if you have actually been consistently watching the games, BJ has looked a ton better... his swing looks much better. But way to judge off one at-bat you saw today. He's hit some rockets right at people this ST. Also, Teheran, you said it best... its only ST. Last ST, BJ hit the cover off the ball and you saw the results in the regular season... ST means absolutely zero. If you can't see an improvement in his swing and how its less complicated... I can't help you.

It's only spring training, but I think this is probably the toughest thing for any rookie, even moreso from someone who has walked a lot in the minors. The pitching is just so much better in the big leagues. It's not just about throwing strikes, it's about throwing quality strikes and the frequency with which that is done at the big league level is just so much greater. It's an adjustment.

Yeah, true. That and his iffy glove and Danno's our 2b again.

well "BJ has looked a ton better" and "ST means absolutely zero" you kind of mitigated your own point.

I'd argue that ST means a lot for a guy like BJ who shat the bed last year. And his good AB's were vs who? One game doesn't mean much, but BJ couldn't hit Lynn's fastball, not even close. He still looks like someone who can't hit a good fastball so he tries to get a walk, and gets called out on strikes a lot.

Agree and it's not like Lynn was throwing gas with movement. I mean they were straight as an arrow and down main street. Like St.Pete said, the Crads announcers were talking about how long his swing was 0-2 batting lead-off. I think there's a reason FG put him lead-off to shorten up that swing. Bj will be BJ, Uggla has looked good not so much for BJ.
