Not to mention Anderson had better MLB and minor league numbers than Pena across the board, thus far. And folks are concentrating too much on Pena's spring... its a mistake. BJ tore the cover off the ball last Spring and we see how that turned out. One of these days maybe people will actually discover Spring stats mean absolutely nothing. He will be a decent guy to have on the bench but in no way should he be a starter... EVER. People are also remembering him having a bit better year last year than he actually did before the injury. .773 OPS in 90 ish at bats does not impress me based on the reset of the career.
 
I think Pena will put in an OPS of .700 to .750 this year. I take it some of you want to take the under on that.

I think it's more that, based on track-record et cetera, he'll have to show us the over for a couple months before he should be receiving any starts in the stead of Uggla, Johnson, or (least likely) Simmons.

But, as I wrote a few days ago, I definitely think he'll be a better back-up/bench-bat than I anticipated at the time of his acquisition.

I'm not saying I expect him to start over a guy with an established track record like Uggla.

My comments about him have to do with what kind of performance I expect, not allocation of playing time.

Sure. But others have, in excitement over his spring at-bats, suggested potential candidacy for 2B starts if others falter. I think that's premature—but I am happy he's on the Braves bench, which is pretty perpendicular to how I felt about him prior to last season.
 
Just read the scoreboard at mlb.com and it says we are playing the ATF today. I didn't know federal agencies had baseball teams.

Minor only pitched to four guys, then came out. Lamm came in,gave up a run, then the rain stopped it. Jeez, maybe I'm paranoid but did they plan on just using Minor for four batters?

I think it was all weather related. I'm sure he finished his work indoors somewhere.

I presume that'll be it for Minor who was slated to go two innings. He threw five of six pitches for strikes to the first two batters in 2nd

Maybe they stopped, started, then stopped again. There were four batters after Minor came out, then one batter in the next half inning before they stopped again.
