Taking a look at the potential postseason roster

if he's finished for the year, a roster spot?

Only if they move him to the sixty-day IL; this report lists the ten-day, so it is confusing.

But I’d guess he’s header for the sixty-day, and Hechevarría’s headec for the postseason roster.

I'm guessing keeping him on the 10 DL gives him a chance of being an option to be added (in case of emergency obviously) before the NLCS or WS if we make either one. Being on the 60 day DL would completely eliminate such a possibility.

Luckily, we have a Hech of a back-up option.

He could go to the 60-day to open up a spot on the 40-man. He'd have to go back on the 40-man after the World Series until the end of spring training. Where I need clarification is I don't know whether he would have to spend the unexpended days after going back on the 40-man roster to fill out the remainder of the 60-day DL stint. For example, if Camargo goes on the 60-day today. The World Series ends 45 days from now (estimate) and Camargo goes back on the 40-man. Would he be ineligible to be activated until 15 days after the start of the regular season or would it be the beginning of spring training or wouldn't it matter.

PS--Not that it matters, but I can remember years and years and years ago that the Braves recalled someone from Low A on the last weekend of the regular season, put him on the DL, and then replaced him with someone not on the roster September 1 for the playoffs. They then proceeded to waive the Low A guy they had put on the DL when they set the off-season 40-man roster. I believe MLB has made changes so that doesn't happen anymore.

It was just reported Camargo is out for the rest of the season. That's a blow, could have been a weapon in the post season. Now who will step up to take his spot? Can't be Riley

assuming a 5 man bench and Ender back, I think it will be: Flowers, Duvall, Culberson, Joyce and Hamilton. The toughest choice is Charlie vs Hech. I go with Charlie as being the slightly better hitter (xwOBA .288 vs .277 for Hech).

I dunno. I’ve been hearing a lot of reports that Ender would miss the first series. Haven’t gotten to see much of either O’Day or Sabotka recently but O’Day has been great over his career and would be a valuable addition if able to pitch well but Sobotka has the power arm. Fried will be in the rotation and deserves it. I think he should be in the pen just to give us the 3rd lefty option and to be able to use him in any situation we need to. It would also make it unlikely he gets over exposed to a lineup.

Don’t know what reports you’re hearing

What’s your rationale for carrying both Inciarte and Hamilton?

Hamilton is there mostly to pinch run in a high leverage situation. Maybe replace the outfielder not name Acuna or Inciarte defensively. But yeah, he is less likely to make the roster if Ender is back.

I'd say it has to be Culberson despite his recent struggle. Mostly because of his success as a pinch hitter and ability to play OF if needed. He's also our emergency catcher so that allows us to not carry all 3 or even carry one as a pinch hitter.

It's hard for me to envision a pinch hitting situation where I'd feel good about having Hech or Hamilton hitting.

I'd rather just use Tehearn as a Pinch Runner. He won't be making any starts in the LDS or LCS at this rate. He may be a high leverage middle relief option in the LCS.

Julio's been a lot better vs the Cards than Folty has, FWIW.

If we got past STL, he shouldnt see the rotation vs LA though.

So assuming no Culberson, Camargo, and let's just say no Ender. What is our bench shaping up to look like?
