Tankathon draft pick watch

Standings for the top pick odds below - the White Sox have the top pick odds locked up. Everyone else:

2. Twins
3. Pirates (0.5 GB)
4. Braves (1 GB)
5. Athletics (2.5 GB)
6. Marlins (3 GB)
7. Orioles (3 GB)

We have a pretty hard schedule coming up with the Cubs, Astros, and Tigers. We have 7 more with the Nats and then finish it off with the Pirates. That Pirates series could decide who gets a better pick between us and them.

The only team of the six we care about that won last night was Baltimore beating Pittsburgh. The Pirates throw Skenes against them tonight, and then they'll play a third game on Thursday.

Updated standings:

T2. Twins
T2. Pirates
4. Braves (1 GB)
5. Athletics (1.5 GB)
6. Marlins (2 GB)
7. Orioles (3.5 GB)

Pretty successful day yesterday with the Athletics, Marlins and Orioles all winning. The Pirates and Twins are just so bad and keep losing, so we can't get any ground on them. But nice to get some cushion in the fourth spot.

Updated standings:

T2. Twins
T2. Pirates
4. Braves (1 GB)
5. Athletics (2.5 GB)
6. Marlins (3 GB)
7. Orioles (4.5 GB)

Marlins and Orioles win today. Pirates lose and take over second odds by themselves.

Updated standings:

2. Pirates
3. Twins (0.5 GB)
4. Braves (1.5 GB)
5. Athletics (3 GB)
6. Marlins (4 GB)
7. Orioles (5.5 GB)

The Pirates are REALLY bad. At this point, I would say they are certainly worse than the Nationals and ChiSox, despite what their records say.

I don't see how we don't sweep them the last 3 games.

Pirates are fixing to play the Nats while we play the Astros. We need to lose 2 of 3 while the Pirates win 2 of 3. The Twins have the hardest schedule coming up than any of us at the bottom.

Pirates are a great example as to not getting too excited about prospect rankings. They've had so many Top 100 prospects and high draft picks not develop into quality major league players that it's almost reached the point of being ridiculous. They have a terrible offense.

Their development team has to be part of that. I don’t know how an org doesn’t make sweeping changes when so many high picks fail.

They've done okay with pitchers (Chandler will probably be next in that line), but when former Top 100 guys like Davis and Peguero don't even look like good minor league players I agree that something is definitely wrong in the player development process for them.

I agree about the development team. I used to just consider pitching prospects as busts if certain teams like the Royals got them. Kind of like how I just consider any QB drafted by the Jets, Browns, or Bears a bust as soon as the pick is made.

Great night yesterday. We lose and wins from the Twins, Marlins annd Athletics.
