Tebow!

Here in Columbia SC, there are more than a few excited that Tebow may come through town since Columbia now has the Mets low A team.

Haha how is that proof of anything? People have sour grapes over not getting paid as much as someone else? Shocking!

It always cracks me up that people are entirely behind capitalism until they feel like it's been unfair to them.

I would make a comment about how him getting 100K is based on name only and not his actual talent. But then this happens at the MLB level too.

It shows the general feeling (SSS) of minor league players to bringing in a 29YO who hasn't played baseball in 10+ years and giving him an opportunity that others with real talent and opportunity don't necessarily get, guys who are trying to make baseball their living, not just pastime.

It's stupid for an any organization that is concerned about the acquisition of a player at the ML level who might negatively affect chemistry to throw that out the window in their minor league systems where the players are even less formed in their understanding of the right way to play baseball, and are just as jealous of opportunities gained and lost.

It would be different if Tebow had 4 years of minor league ball while he was a QB or played at Florida or spent an offseason in the independent leagues. But he hasn't. And to make it worse, the rules are different for him than they are for every other minor league player in the Mets system, which will cause trouble, at least resentment even if unvoiced.

Might as well sign Will Ferrell, he's actually been in a few ST games recently. At least he would bring "cowbell."

Who cares what those whiny little bitches say? He made a deal. The game sorts itself out. Either he can hit a slider or he can't. If he can't, we'll all know soon enough.

BTW, I'm guessing the lil' fella can take care of himself if somebody decides they have a point to make.

Or possibly the fact that hardly anyone felt it was an issue when the greatest basketball player of all time (instead of a failed QB) was afforded the same type of opportunity?

What's the big deal, seriously? The Mutts won't let him get in the way of anyone in their system with more talent any more than the Braves would have.
 
My only issue with this is that it's a publicity stunt. I think that's pretty clear. He knows it and the Mets know it. Everyone knows it. He will make them a few bucks in the minor league circuit for awhile and that's it. If Tebow was serious he would play in the independent league and give up his ESPN job to work on baseball full time.

Slightly different with Jordan but I agree with that. It's not going to impact anybody directly in the Mets system. If you are blocked by Tim Tebow you weren't going to do anything anyways.

Your trying to build a team, not a circus. If the Mets have even one player with real talent that gets sideways about this, then it was a stupid move. It's got nothing to do with Tebow being able to "take care of himself." It has to do with creating the right atmosphere in your franchise, a professional atmosphere that respects the game.

Oh, please. He's not Eddie Gaedel. He's an extraordinarily gifted athlete who wants to take a shot. And if the Mets have even one player who gets sideways about this, then he's a pansy and they need to cut his candy ass.

Besides, I'm sure Timmy will Play The Game The Right Way.

If the Mutts have "one player with real talent" that views Tim Tebow as the roadblock to him reaching the majors, that kid never had a shot.

If Austin Riley views Rio Ruiz as his toughest challenge, maybe he ought to start training for a shot at the NFL.
