The Coronavirus, not the beer

Agreed. If you have natural immunity from surviving covid, you’re conferring the positive externality on society that would’ve come from the vaccine (more value, if the Israel data is right).

i think there is a good case for allowing people who test positive for antibodies to skip the vaccine...we can send the extra vaccines to undervaccinated countries...this is a pandemic that doesn't respect borders...ultimately we need to get vaccines distributed all over the world

In a sample of more than 700,000 people, natural immunity was 27 times more effective than vaccinated immunity in preventing symptomatic infections.

If that turns out to be true, the total bill could very well be less if lower risk groups (say the under 40 crowd) all went that route versus all getting the vaccine

it is an interesting cost-benefit question...i'm cool with vaccine mandates being restricted to the over 40 crowd...i suspect though the cost benefit will be in favor of vaccination even for younger people once you take into account the reality that the process of acquiring natural immunity will in many cases involve them infecting older or vulnerable groups

keep in mind the cost-benefit favors the chickenpox vaccine mandate even though it is estimated to save only 150 lives per year...and natural immunity from chickenpox is superior to the vaccine

It is far more gross

And lol at natural immunity being a "crock"

You've become so ****ing stupid

it is a crock considering idiots like those radio jocks dying from from their attempts to rely on it (or whatever other crock they are relying upon)

and of course there is the small detail that there is literally no way of going for natural immunity without contributing to its spread...it is such an idiotic idea when you think about what it entails...crock is being charitable...none of our ancestors (as far as i know) were stupid enough to encourage natural immunity for polio, etc even though it is also true in all those cases that natural immunity is superior to vaccine-acquired immunity...it is a sad commentary on our times that this kind of reasoning has some sort of appeal

Anyone worth their salt has always said that natural immunity is the route for healthy and young people.

But its ok - continue your deza paid for by Big Pharma. Just another thing you've gotten wrong while simultaneously making yourself look the fool in the process.

Though pediatric coronavirus cases in Ohio are climbing, Gov. Mike DeWine (R) said he can’t implement a mask mandate for schools in his state due to opposition in the Republican-led legislature.

“If I could put on a statewide mandate, if the health department could do it, we would do it,” he said at a Tuesday news conference. “What the legislature has made very clear is that if we put on a statewide mandate, they will take it off.”

The governor said six children’s hospital representatives spoke with superintendents and school leaders across the state about the impact the virus is having on their systems. The hospitals pleaded with K-12 school leaders to implement mask usage among teachers, faculty and students, he said.

Approximately 54.4 percent of Ohio students are required to wear masks under local mandates, which the governor said is a “significant increase” in the percentage compared to when school started.

The delta variant has increased the number of new cases, hospitalizations and deaths around the state, straining the health-care system, according to DeWine.

“Every single county is red hot. Some counties are almost boiling over,” DeWine said, noting that even counties with relatively low coronavirus incidence data for Ohio exceed Centers for Disease Control and Prevention standards. “Everywhere, no matter your school district, they’re red hot. There’s no place that you can run from the covid. Every school district is surrounded by numbers of cases that are very, very high.”

I have a feeling Mike DeWine is not going to make it out of his primary next year.

Good - Anyone that pushes mask mandates is anti-science and should not be put in a position of authority.

Pfizer expects to seek emergency use authorization for its coronavirus vaccine from federal regulators to immunize children ages 5 to 11 in early October and ages 6 months to 5 the following month, said Frank D’Amelio, the company’s chief financial officer, on Tuesday.

The clarified timeline for the vaccine that Pfizer developed with German firm BioNTech comes as parents have expressed worry about their children’s exposure to the virus, especially since schools reopened. The delta variant has led to a surge in infections and hospitalizations across the country, including among younger children, who are currently ineligible to get any vaccine in the United States.

Phase 3 studies for children between 6 months and 11 years are underway, and safety and immunogenicity data for children between ages 5 and 11 are expected by the end of September, D’Amelio said at a fireside chat at the Morgan Stanley 19th Annual Global Healthcare Conference.

Officials from the Food and Drug Administration have said they are “eager” to see children vaccinated and the agency would “complete its review as quickly as possible, likely in a matter of weeks rather than months.”

While useful idiots continue to beg for freedom to be taken away... the party leaders buy $30k dinner tickets to party while the peasants wear their masks

This is where mandated vaccines have gotten one of our "elite" colleges

This is never going to end... no matter how much you comply. So stop

[Tw]1437640172007460867[/tw]

Remember kids... if we all just get vaccinated, this is what we can look forward to.

The science of it is all amazing

150% vaccination rate required for herd immunity.

Or just more masks!!!

[Tw]1437970742449168384[/tw]

Now it’s a rush to eliminate the control group so it isn’t obvious to even the dumbest of people that the vaccines aren’t what they said they would be.

https://reason.com/2021/09/14/the-dangerous-dream-of-zero-covid-in-australia/

The city of Sydney is in week 12 of a harsh lockdown that has seen residents in the worst-affected areas confined to their homes 23 hours a day, with just 60 minutes permitted outside for exercise. When people do venture out, it must be between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m.

In other parts of Sydney, life is a little easier. People can go out for an early-morning or late-night run, but must stick to a roughly three-mile radius from their home. With the exception of grocery stores, pharmacies, and takeout food and coffee, everything is closed. There have been ripples of protest, but police have promptly shut them down, with organizers facing jail sentences and participants forced to pay millions in fines.

In Melbourne, the government has closed playgrounds and told residents not to watch the sunset. When protestors gathered, police used pepper spray and rubber bullets to disperse them. A child holding a sign saying "let me play" received a face full of pepper spray.

Melbourne was once voted among the world's most livable, desirable cities. Now it's best known for being one of the world's most locked-down cities: More than 225 days and counting of police checking if residents have a reasonable excuse to leave their homes. The federal and state governments have begun to admit the "zero COVID" strategy is unachievable and is limping towards some kind of reopening.

Australia can try to say it did everything possible to stop the spread (except better prioritization of vaccines). The country has surrendered freedom of movement, prohibited people from leaving the country, the state, a three-mile radius, or in many cases their homes. It has only recently begun to count the human cost of these strict lockdowns.

The obsession with lockdowns surely saved some lives from COVID-19, but it also meant that COVID-19 became the only disease it was unacceptable for a life to be lost to. There is a human cost in terms of diseases not treated, medical appointments missed, and symptoms ignored. A "shadow pandemic" of domestic violence has emerged. An average of 40 minors a day in New South Wales are hospitalized due to self-harm and suicide attempts—up 47 percent from 2019. Our suicide hotline has hit multiple all-time records. Many are watching their life savings slowly dwindle. The restaurant where my partner and I had our first date, an establishment which has been a part of the community for 30 years, recently closed its doors forever. These businesses often represent a lifetime of effort lost.
