The Coronavirus, not the beer

Personally, I never had chosen one pegged as an Easter guy. I always saw him more as an Indigenous People's Day kinda guy.

Is the Nichols one satire of the first tweet or is that really how that exchange went down?

This is the one consequential thing that has landed in his in box, and he has handled it with his usual incoherence and incompetence.

Reminds me yesterday when Roberts asked him what metrics was his team using to determine which parts of the country would open back up earlier and his answer was:

"Well we're gonna be looking at a lot of different ones. We're gonna be talking about a lot of things... etc." Another softball question and he couldn't give a basic answer.

Watching these pressers I feel like Michael Corleone chewing Tom Hagen out. "Why can't you give me a STRAIGHT ANSWER ANYMORE?!"

Taking bold action to safeguard the health of millions of Americans, Dr. Anthony Fauci has tricked Donald J. Trump into believing that there is no Easter this year, Fauci has confirmed.

After hearing Trump declare on Tuesday that he hoped to reopen the country on Easter Sunday, an alarmed Fauci decided to spring into action.

“I ran down to my computer and mocked up a phony 2020 calendar with no Easter on it,” Fauci said. “Then I showed it to Trump and said, ‘There’s a problem with your plan, Mr. President. There’s no Easter this year.’”

According to Fauci, Trump was initially baffled by the news. “How could that be?” Trump asked. “There’s Easter every year.”

This is a leap year,” the quick-thinking virologist replied.

The esteemed epidemiologist said that his dealings with Trump have now entered a new phase. “I’ve given up on containment, and I’m just doing mitigation,” he said.

This is fantastic. And as sad as it is, I honestly could see that happening.

At the White House coronavirus task force news conference, President Donald Trump said: "The more aggressively we commit to social distancing ... the more lives we can save."

Ah yes Don. Preach aggressive social distancing when the last two days you kept wildly speculating and telling everyone you were gonna lift the guidelines on Monday. What was that thing the right always used to say about don't tell your enemies when you're leaving?

The President's Daily Brief (PDB) is a brief of important classified information on national security collected by various U.S. intelligence agencies given to the president and a select group of senior officials. On August 6, 2001, the Central Intelligence Agency delivered a President's Daily Brief to President Bush, who was vacationing at his ranch in Crawford, Texas.[2][3]
President Bush's response of "All right. You've covered your ass." has been erroneously linked to this PDB. This response, however, came from a separate PDB linked to Bin Laden from several months earlier. During 2001, CIA analysts produced several reports warning of imminent attacks by Bin Laden and al Qa'ida. Senior officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney and staff from Donald Rumsfeld's office at the Department of Defense, questioned whether these reports might not be deception on the part of Al-Qaeda, purposely designed to needlessly expend resources in response. After reevaluating the legitimate risks of these recent reports, CIA analysts produced a report titled "UBL [Usama Bin Laden] Threats Are Real". It was after this report that the president gave that now-infamous response

Once the dust settles will be interesting the demographics of who (when and where) was infected.

Only demographic I have seen is elderly--- anyone else ?

I've heard that in Italy more men than women are dying but that could only be because more men are out and about in the daily current.

Interesting, not much difference in the graph from zero days to 14 days of social distancing, but after that the curve begins to flatten. So the benefits of lock down only really show after at least 2 weeks, right where Trump says we should end intervention. That seems about right for him.

You are analyzing that wrong. Effects are on a lag so reopening after 2 weeks was always the plan supported by the science. But i td s a fluid situation and facts could change in the ground.

From the article:

These numbers offer a false precision, for we don’t understand Covid-19 well enough to model it exactly. But they do suggest the point that epidemiologists are making: For all the yearning for a return to normalcy, that is risky so long as a virus is raging and we are unprotected.

Again, death rate is drastically overstated so the mass death predictions are seemingly off now.

Of course there is this. Lots of first hand testimonials how trumps false hope drug actually working.

A third measure is lethality, the “case fatality rate,” or percentage of people who contract an illness who eventually die of it. For the flu, this is about 0.1 percent. For Covid-19, there are enormous uncertainties but even in optimal circumstances it may be 10 times greater, roughly 1 percent – although it has been much higher than that in countries like Italy with older populations and overburdened hospitals.

From the same article. Talking about death rates from other countries is irrelevant on so many levels. These ****ing people have no clue what a damn fraction is and how to extract meaning from it. If people said the tate of death n reported cases was 1% I'd agree but we have idiots in the media that are dying to sensationalize this.

Is the assumption that everyone who hasn't been tested doesnt have the virus? Is that what you all think?

If the virus is in fact as contagious or more than we previously thought it makes this whole pandemic less of an issue.

CCP let's out a virus to quiet HK and cripple global economy. Lies about timing and overall mortality rates.

Yeah, looking more and more like that.
