The Coronavirus, not the beer

Why do people bend over backwards to praise NY? It's sorta weird. I don't think any state has done that great of a job, but NY and NJ's death rate is awful. Here's the deaths per million for the states being compared here...

NY 1675
FL 236
TX 140

I'm embarrassed by my state's 456 deaths per million.

You of course know why

I am certainly not praising NY, but I'm willing to cut them some slack. We were literally learning about this virus on the fly and NY was unprepared for the influx in cases all at once at the start of the pandemic.

But trying to compare states that are currently hitting their peaks with NY 3 months ago is dumb. Hot spot states like FL, TX, CA, and AZ literally had months to prepare for this and they're completely ****ting the bed.

On March 1, NY had 1 reported case. Less than a month later, they were already over 7k new cases per day.

So yeah, comparing NY to FL or TX (who neither one had more than 3k new cases in a day til mid June) is probably a dumb thing to do.

Pretending you can control or stop the sptead is laughable.

There is no ****ting the bed. We were all going to get exposed at some point. There isn't much that can be done to stop that.

We likely can do both those things with a vaccine.

Thats not a world we are living in now.

Therefore, critiquing spread is foolish.

You can only hope to ensure the right people get infected and nY was just about the worst at that

I don't understand this line of reasoning. We are all going to die at some point. The idea is not to prevent death or exposure. It is to buy time. Which happens to be a valuable commodity for us mortals.

Well then...those of you afraid to go outside right now can stay in until you feel safe.

We are getting closer to that being the world we live in. Why not save as many as we can? Why try for herd immunity in the absolute most dangerous way possible when a much safer and more controllable method should be available relatively soon?

Seriously. Talking to thethe about covid is just a different side of the same coin of the onion article about mass shootings

“‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens”

Because we have never produced a vaccine at this rate and vaccines are not full proof, especially the first time around.

We know the virus is statistically insignificant for a majority of the population. We now know that herd immunity is achieved much faster than any previously thought.

We know staying inside causes incalculable economic and social damage. God bless these pre teens growing up om this time.

Herd immunity is the only rational approach.

Lol...which nation is in a good spot?

Take away the north east and idiotic democratoc leadership and the US has done as well any any nation.

Why is it that it is always about people being afraid for themselves with you all? You just don't get it. Those of us on the side of patience and minimization are worried and care about others. I just got back from a trip to Tennessee. Through Kentucky (mandatory masks now) and Tennessee, I saw maybe MAYBE 10% of the people wearing masks. This morning at the store on the way to work, I saw a person walk in without a mask (they are required here, too) and the woman behind the counter (who incidentally was wearing a Trump 2020 button) told him not to worry about it because they only helped other people and, "We shouldn't be required to help other people if we don't want to, especially since most of the people who want us to are those libtards."

There is so much just totally incorrect here. I don't know what to say.
