You can be fired for any reason or no reason just so long as it's not for a few specified reasons. Vaccination status is not one of those reasons.

That's a deeper question than you might think. An employer cannot get your medical records without your permission. Healthcare professionals can't give them out without you telling them they can so you're the gatekeeper of your medical records. But if you refuse to give them to your employer, can your employer fire you?

It depends. You get into some sticky ADA areas here. An employer isn't supposed to make inquiries about disabilities unless it's job related. For example, if you're going to be driving a bus your employer can ask if you have been diagnosed with epilepsy and might want to review your medical records if you have to ensure safety. So just asking for everyone's medical records every time would likely land the employer in hot water with an ADA claim at some point.

However, a company requiring proof of a vaccination would be much easier. The employer can clearly connect it to safety, choosing not to get vaccinated is not a disability, and so on. It get's more iffy when there's someone with a medical reason they can't get the vaccine as we're back in ADA territory but a general requirement that they provide a doctor's note stating they cannot get the vaccine would probably be okay.
 
Either the CDC is the most incompetent org in existence, or treating unvaccinated people as dangers to society makes zero sense.

This is no different than the Democrats view on covid in January and February of 2020. Only when Trump was lax on covid did they shift their viewpoint. I have no doubt that if Trump was the one who went for extreme lockdowns nationwide that the Dems would be the party crying foul. Our entire government is a joke.
