The Trump Presidency

It’s hard to quantify damage to institutions, erosion of trust, etc, but as much as Trump is probably the worst individual to serve as president and is thoroughly corrupt, nothing he’s done is as bad as the Iraq War. So in my book his presidency isn’t even the worst of the 21st century.

The damage to our institutions and to our credibility around the world is literally incalculable. And I don't mean incalculably small.

Trump attacks juror.

on Roger Stone: "The forewoman of the jury, the woman who was in charge, is totally tainted when you take a look. How can you have a person like this? She was an anti-Trump activist"
Goes on to claim she's a "dominant person, so she can get people to do whatever she wants"

I mean !!!

Lindsey Graham adds "Trump has authority to pardon Stone"

Remember the Trump supporter on the Manafort jury who loved Trump but still voted to convict.

Russia MIGHT have swung the election for Trump and yes... he’s embarrassing. I don’t know if the world takes us less serious than they did when Bush/Cheney ran the gambit, but yes... there is a legitimacy cost that the US will have to deal with for a while.

But it’s not worse than 9/11. Come onnnnnnn.

Thousands of innocents killed. 20 years of war and foreign occupation. A direct cause of the expanded scope of surveillance power that directly undermines freedom. It is the pivot point of modern society.

I consider 9/11 and the **** that came after seperate. It might be an excuse they used for that stuff but it was coming it was just a matter of how to sell it. We never really have any choice when it comes to foreign policy. Bernie can say all he wants but he ain't changing it. Theres a reason it stays consistent no matter who the a President is.

I didnt vote for him but I was glad he won. I told people he wouldn't be that bad. I gave him more than a fair chance. Now I think he is the most dangerous threat to this country since Hitler. He is trying to turn the US into Russia. Its unfathomable to me that people cant see that.

I would predict if he wins reelection he will spend most of his second term retaliating against states that didnt vote for him. Even if he loses we wont fully know the scope of the damage done for years. No matter who wins or lose **** is going to hit the fan.

You’ve previously told me don’t worry about voting for Sanders or Warren because their crazy socialist economic agenda has no shot at passing. Now you think Sanders can’t do anything about the country’s foreign policy. So what the heck are you actually voting for? You’re just expecting Sanders to come in, legalize weed, then...

I agree, but it’s hard to get a handle on exactly what the consequences of this will be. It’s relatively easy to quantify the costs of Bush’s “War on Terror,” and they’re staggering.

One thing that seems certain is that he’s established a precedent for a “unitary executive” that would make the Bushies blush.

On the other hand, I expect that the instant a Democrat is elected president, there’s going to be a sudden and massive collective amnesia from congressional republicans about their Trump-era positions in separation of powers, the deficit, etc.

Appoint a qualified person to head the National Security agencies? Defend the country from Russia's propaganda campaign to influence our elections? I like much of his criminal justice reforms outside of legalized weed. I care deeply about the war on drugs and lack of police accountability/oversight. Generally my favorite form of government is gridlock and as a conservative person in general nothing gets Republicans to be conservative like a Democrat being President. We have trillion dollar deficit right now and you dont here a peep from them. Bernie could cut that in half magically in his first year and Republicans would still scream bloody murder.

who was it that said " a society gets the government it deserves"
???

Our country was built on slavery, occupation and displacement.
and seem like every chance we get to make it right --- our less than better angels rule the day.

Anyone else ever read Howard Zinn ?

With the pushback IMPOTUS and his cult are doing to the Intel briefing that Russia is trying to help Trump is proving that the talking point "why didn't they bring it to the Trump campaign" argument during the Russia investigation was bull****. This is why.

IMPOTUS is twatting about giving farmers more aid. Where is thethe. I need him to explain to me why they need aid after IMPOTUS said China had agreed to buy **** tons of food from our farmers. IMPOTUS said it was so much the farners said they couldnt produce that much so they were going to have to buy bigger tractors.
