The Trump Presidency

When asked about the market free fall he tried to blame it on the Democrat debate..... despite much of the fall happening before the debate. I tried to make a BINGO card with crazy excuses he will likely use for the coronavirus but couldnt get it to work to reprint here. When you go back and list his responses to all the lawsuits and accusations he has faced everything all the way back to his housing discrimination case he always says it's some kind of hoax or scam. Every single time. For like hundreds of cases. Theres a word for people like that...

Federal health employees interacted with Americans quarantined for possible exposure to the coronavirus without proper medical training or protective gear, then scattered into the general population, according to a government whistle-blower who lawmakers say faced retaliation for reporting concerns.

In a narrative prepared for Congress, the whistle-blower painted a grim portrait of staff members who found themselves suddenly thrust into a federal effort to confront the coronavirus in the United States. The whistle-blower said their own health concerns were dismissed by senior administration officials as detrimental to staff “morale.” They were “admonished,” the complainant said, and “accused of not being team players,” and had their “mental health and emotional stability questioned.”

After a phone call with health agency leaders to raise their fears about exposure to the virus, the staff members described a “whitewashing” of the situation, characterizing the response as “corrupt” and a “cover-up,” according to the narrative, and telling the whistle-blower that senior officials had treated them as a “nuisance” and did not want to hear their worries about health and safety.

A separate team not connected to the whistle-blower complaint was dispatched to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego to help coronavirus evacuees from Wuhan, China, the center of the outbreak, according to two people with direct knowledge of the effort. One of those people said they also lacked protective gear.

At Miramar, one of the people said, guidelines were unclear and sometimes contradictory, and different teams appeared to be following different protocols. Professional cleaning crews in full protective gear — eye and respiratory protection and gloves — cleaned the quarantine area at the same time that Centers for Disease Control and Prevention doctors wearing business suits interacted with evacuees at close range.

Sounds like a little veteran laidership would come in handy at the Department of Health and Human Services.

Will Trump just essentially ignore the Coronavirus, treating it like any other flu, to keep panic down and coddle the stock market? So far that looks like what they are trying to do. You can't have a big outbreak if you don't test people. The fewer sick people they test, the fewer official cases they'll have.

The CDC has already amended its testing protocol now that we have an apparent case of community transmission.

With something like this, making up "alternate facts" is just so reckless and dangerous that they don't have a choice but to play it pretty straight.

That would be good. But does California and other states even have the test kits needed?

The Taliban Peace Agreement didn't last very long.

Washington (CNN)The United States conducted an airstrike Wednesday against Taliban fighters in Afghanistan who are accused of attacking an Afghan National Defense and Security Forces checkpoint, according to the US military.

The strike comes hours after a telephone call between President Donald Trump and Taliban chief negotiator Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar on Tuesday amid reports that the Taliban had resumed violence in Afghanistan days after the US and the Taliban signed a historic agreement in Qatar on Saturday.

The strike was from a drone, according to a US defense official.

anyone with any semblance of intelligence could've seen this coming. who one earth thought this man would be capable of handling such a thing? this is why countries need competent leadership. i'd love to have one of his supporters here defend his comments on TV last night. of course, they're all supporters who tell themselves they "don't support him." so let's call them his defenders. please step up and defend it.

I prefer "enablers" / "deplorables"

NY Times wrote this is Trumps first test of a humanitarian response.
Completely forgetting Puerto Rico - Hurricane Maria
