yes, I want the government to protect me and my family from deadly virus's from China or other nations. One of the few legitimate purposes of government is to protect us.All these measures you are so butt hurt about would have only been needed for a short term period if the President did his job and prevented the virus from getting here and spreading like wildfire. Targeted lockdowns might have been needed for 2-4 weeks. Instead our President spent vital time kissing a dictators ass and calling the threat from the virus a hoax. You can pretend like there was no way to stop this from getting out of China if you want but I dont buy it.

I would say looking out for people's safety and well-being falls under promote the general welfare. Just a thought.

We've discussed this. President Bush sent in troops to LA to calm things down after the Rodney King riots. He consulted with local leaders and civil rights leaders. He sought to bring people together. The approach of your boy was the opposite. He sought to pour gasoline on an already volatile situation, with language about dominating protesters.

The local leaders and civil rights leaders from this summer were an even bigger drop off from their predecessors than Trump was from Bush. Those leaders wanted the chaos to stop without anyone being hurt. The leaders from this summer had already baked violence and it's repercussions into the cost as a tool.

I'm not reaching. The head of the NAACP in Portland was quite outspoken about the fact that the antifans were jeopardizing all of the chances for constructive change coming out of the George Floyd protests. He called it a "white spectacle."

I'm sure you're familiar with what Andrew Young had to say about the violence and destruction of property in Atlanta and elsewhere.

There were 2 things that were different from LA after the Rodney King riots. A group of opportunistic anarchists looking to stir things up and play the role of spoiler. And a president equally eager to play the role of spoiler. Both were bad faith actors with zero interest or ability to make a constructive contribution to the situation. very poorly chosen one and the antifans were locked in this symbiotic relationship that both found quite satisfying. The antifans are chuckleheads and I don't expect anything positive from them. I consider it a waste of time on my part to point out their bad faith. But I will use up time and bandwidth pointing out the bad faith of the guy occupying the Oval Office.
