The Trump Presidency

All Americans in taxes, future Americans in inflation and borrowed debt.

The biggest burden will be on working class people with no college education

I'm not pro-abolishing Student Loan debt, but you're not building a strong case here.

The right answer is that by strictly abolishing student loan debt you're not dealing with the core of the issue and you're encouraging the continuation of the University Industrial Complex via a massive bailout that would likely just encourage continued behavior.

I second what Zito said, but I still don’t think it *necessarily* works like this. The cancellation of all student loans would probably do so, as there’s simply no way to cover the burden of the lost revenue. Forgiving some, even significant, debt could be offset by tax changes or spending changes to a degree that it’s entirely possible it doesn’t affect the ordinary American. My biggest worry is if that’s the thing we want to sell the farm for. I’d much prefer we make those concessions to help overhaul the Medical system before student debt cancellation.

Unless there are tax increases to offset the debt forgiveness, the money will have to be printed or pborrowed. The schools have already been paid

Meanwhile, the precedent would be awful and does literally zero to solve the problem. It actually makes it worse

Pence, Cotton, Hawley, Noem, Haley, DeSantis...who else? Will Abbot or Scott jump in? Do Cruz or Marco want to take another smackdown? Some Lincoln Project types will surely think about it, but they needn't waste their time.

Sure looks like Trump will face felony election fraud charges in Georgia relatively soon.

“Under Georgia law, it is illegal to falsify any records used in connection with an election, or to place any false entries in such records. And any person who “solicits, requests, commands, importunes, or otherwise attempts to cause the other person” to falsify voting records is guilty of “criminal solicitation to commit election fraud in the first degree.” The crime is a felony offense, punishable by up to three years in prison (and no fewer than one year). An individual is culpable even if they failed to induce fraud.”

Cohen declined to comment. A representative for Trump and a lawyer for the Trump Organization did not respond to requests for comment. Frost, Vance’s spokesman, declined to comment on areas of the inquiry beyond Pomerantz’s appointment.

Pomerantz, 69, was chief of the criminal division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York from 1997 to 1999 and oversaw a successful racketeering case against former Gambino crime family boss John “Junior” Gotti.

This is what happens when elected politicians refuse to listen or help their constituency for decades.
