Thread for Games ...

Acuna is just killing it. Good day for Ruiz at the plate also. Adam Walker with another homer, 2 strikeouts. Swanson had 3 K's after the homer in the first.

Thus far Folty is easily winning the 5th starter job by default. Danks, Wisler, and Newcomb have all looked rough. Blair is running a distant second I think. Still really early, though.

Funny thing about spring is you just don't know what guys are thinking... Swanson could have come to the park saying 'I am going to go all in today.. just work on my big fly swing' I didn't get to listen, so maybe he just had a bad day.. but Spring is for things like this.. to be able to test things against live pitching.

Collmenter did ok in his work. Not advocating for him by no means... just saying

Acuna and Albies were phenomenal signings, no doubt. $350,000 for Albies, just $100,000 for Acuna. That is crazy.

Pache was much more expensive, but he's still looking like he could be quite a bargain as well.

Pache was very well thought of on most of the in depth lists that came out this offseason. More so than I had figured he would.

The next signing period will be an interesting one. We have a bonus pool of $4.75M but will not be able to sign anyone for more than $300,000. Our results over the years (and those of other teams as well) suggests that spreading 4.75M over 20 or so players might be a better strategy than blowing it all on 1 or 2. It might be a blessing in disguise that we have no choice but to do this. We'll have a chance to compare the yield from the last signing period, when we got Maitan and other high-profile guys with the yield from the next two when we have no choice but to focus on the smaller fish in the pond.
