Thread: GDT: 4/11 Bravos @ Nationals - let the suckage continue!

The Olivera trade looks worse each game I watch him play, bad on offense and defense and odds are not good on his long swing changing much at his age. We are going to be stuck paying a minor league player millions when we also gave up Wood and Peraza for him and they cost us little. What a terrible deal.

Game on the line... You want Olivera at the plate or Teheran? I think I'll go Teheran

I'm not going to start harping on Olivera just yet...with that said, he's much older than 30 years old. He looks and moves like he's damn near 35-36

This team would be so much better if it had Wood and Peraza on it. Olivers is a negative player

AJ acted like he wanted it, Grilli had to catch it. AJ should just stay out of the way we all know he cannot catch it.

Are you serious or being sarcastic? Wood dropped a lot of velocity at the end of last year and looks about like our collection of dumpster fire pitchers this year. Peraza is spending yet another year in AAA. I don't think he will ever be an impact player. The trade swapped an equal amount of talent. Where is Braves got screwed is they took on about 30 million of dead salary with Hector.

No problem with trading wood and peraza, but I hate the return. This FO had it bad for Olivera from the jump... After Olivera and Toscano, you have to wonder about our scouting

Wood threw 190 innings of sub-4 ERA ball last year... have you seen our pitching? He's thrown one game this year.

Peraza was used as a centerpiece to acquire Todd Frazier. IMO he would be a better player already than either Aybar or Jace Peterson. I could be wrong on that... but I'd gladly trade Olivera straight up for Peraza... would you not?

Olivera is one of the worst players in the league

Wood's velocity is back and fangraph's among others have taken note expecting a bounce-back season for him. Peraza is still among the top ranked second base prospects in the game. They are hardly equal value for Olivera without even considering the money. Bottom line: Wood and Peraza should've brought back a lot more in a trade and could've if the Braves were not so intent on getting Olivera. Dodgers knew Olivera had red flags so they sold high on him, Braves were the sucker.

If EOF is gonna stay in against RHH, he's gonna need to stop floating high 80s stuff at the high end of the strike zone. That walk not a bad outcome, all things considered.

About Olivera... How could he hit so well in ST and be this bad in regular season? He faced mlb pitchers in ST. Is how pitchers pitch in ST that much different in regular season?

A lot of the better AAAA players often hit well in ST because so many MLB pitchers are working on things and because they also face a lot of minor league pitchers too.
