Thread: GDT: 4/11 Bravos @ Nationals - let the suckage continue!

About Olivera... How could he hit so well in ST and be this bad in regular season? He faced mlb pitchers in ST. Is how pitchers pitch in ST that much different in regular season?

Every year people get excited about spring stats and every year the level heads remind them that mean absolutely nothing.

I'll never forget when BJ Upton was ripping the cover off the ball the first year we signed him in spring

Am I the only one sick of FF not hitting? Can we re-visit the Aj reed deal with Houston? I know it's early and FF will eventually hit, but .111... Good grief

Wood's velocity is back and fangraph's among others have taken note expecting a bounce-back season for him. Peraza is still among the top ranked second base prospects in the game. They are hardly equal value for Olivera without even considering the money. Bottom line: Wood and Peraza should've brought back a lot more in a trade and could've if the Braves were not so intent on getting Olivera. Dodgers knew Olivera had red flags so they sold high on him, Braves were the sucker.

I'm not a big fan of Wood or Peraza as you can tell. But I will agree that Wood and Peraza should have brought a player that is young and can fill a future need. That combo could have brought a good catching prospect.

I think the front office was hoping to steal the next Jose Bautista. They overpaid for a lottery ticket and failed.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hector gets on a hot streak this summer. If he does they should trade him immediately.

Can someone help me understand how Michael Taylor is batting .100, but his OBP is .095?

Sac fly or bunt. OBP is based on plate appearances but batting average is based on at bats. Sac flies and sac bunts are plate appearances in which you didn't get on base, but they don't count against your batting average due it not being an at bat

What's funny is all this ripping we're doing of Olivera and Olivera has doubled up FF in avg... .111 (FF) .222 (Olivera)

It scares me the FO missed this badly. It would have been understandable if Olivera was 23. Or if he had some sort of track record. But he didn't. Knowing that we weren't going to be competitive for a few years, how do you trade two young 20 years olds for the 30 year old with no track record?

Freeman after that first game has done pretty much nothing, but unlike Olivera we know he can turn it on and go 3-4 back to back games and have his numbers back on track.

Because his successor can't play defense with a ****.

I love how Heyward is hated on this board bc the front office decided to trade him

Lmao! That ball fell 30 ft in front of Markakis....no way he or anyone catches that. You little whinney btches look for anything to whine about....it's the 6th game of the season! Pace yourselves...bunch of vaginas

Another error for Adonis. He's looked good with the bat but defense still a major, major concern.

Every year people get excited about 2-3 weeks hot stretches when someone has a 500 BABIP no matter if it's ST, June, or Sept. Then we're called haters for pointing that out. There is a lot wrong with this team and it will need a lot to get back on the right track. Yes our farm is awesome and that's a good start but it's no guarantee like some around here think. We got really lucky with our young crop in the early 90's (4 should be HOFers) and then plugged in key role players around them for years.

Markakis is a gold glove right fielder. He is comparable to Heyward. Just like Aybar will be a quality ss...

It's more than comprehended that Heyward is better defensively than Nick...but after every damn ball that Nick can't get to l, a Heyward reflection flies out.

When was the last time someone posted "Sure would be nice to have Heyward's bat right now!"? I'd take Markakis' bat any day of the week over Heyward
