In certain parts of the country (pacific northwest, college towns, some of the big cities, Burlington, VT) there is a pretty bitter schism between the hard left and democrats (including liberal democrats). There are a significant number of people on the hard left who view very poorly chosen one's presidency as beneficial to their cause. credibly accused creepy joe and obama are both viewed as apostates in those circles. Interestingly, Bernie has abandoned his friends on the left and thrown in his lot with the mainstream Dems. A hopeful sign for the rest of us that with age comes wisdom. Politics is about building coalitions. It takes time for some young people to take that in. Some grow old and never do.
