Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

Dude, what?
Yes, Taylor has the same WAR as Span does this year - in 23 more games. Span, in all likelihood, will finish with a higher WAR than Taylor this year, and a higher WAR than 1.4 that will need to be replaced. Span will likely be close to 3 WAR this year. Again, that is not "pretty much nothing," and I think it's far from a guarantee Taylor produces that next year. Taylor will need to improve to replace Span. A guy like him, who Ks a **** ton, is far from a guarantee to improve, especially when he isn't particularly young. Span was also at 4 WAR last year and 3.4 the previous two years. Taylor, with his below-average bat, is not a sure thing to replace that.

You realize Span is on the disabled list right and hasn't started rehab games, right? You think he's going to put up 1.6 WAR in 50 games? Or 60 games? or 40 games?

You are bringing up stuff that is irrelevant to the point that was made again. What they are replacing in comparison from 2016 to 2015 has nothing to do with 2014 or 2013.

To play your game that is irrelevant, but anyways. Taylor is at 1.4 WAR for half a season. So double that to 2.8. Span has pretty much no shot at 2.8 WAR this year. Can Taylor be a 3 WAR player in CF? Kevin Kiermaier is about equal defensively (probably a tick above) and is at 3.1 WAR right now while hitting .248/.284/.411

Where did I say that, or suggest it?
I don't think he will "easily" put up a 3 WAR like Span will come close to this year because his bat has massive holes that could continue to be exposed. I never once said he's incapable of anything; I said he's far from a guarantee to "easily replace" Span's production, which you originally described as "pretty much nothing."

Damn, you can't even read your own material.

You won't admit you're a die hard gnats fan will you? Why is it so hard for you?

If I was, why would it be any concern to you? Just because people can't view teams without bias doesn't mean they are a fan of the team. I think the Dodgers are the best team in baseball, I must be a Dodgers fan!!!!!!

I really couldn't give a **** if you were a Marlins fan.

Braves also didn't shy away from guys like Crackiniti/Sheffield/Fick/Farnsworth/Soriano back in the glory days.

They were also burned by Yunel, another Cuban with "attitude problems." But perhaps they think that playing for Fredi will help Puig.

I know there are a hundred rumors flying around, but if the one where it's reported that the Nationals are the team in hottest pursuit of Kimbrel winds up being true, I think I might hurt myself with a sharp object.

The other CF has been Michael Taylor, who will be the one replacing Span though so you can't use the aggregate number. If it wasn't for Taylor, it would likely be a negative or replacement level player.

The bottom line with the point I made, is that they production they've gotten out of Span in 2015 should easily be matched in 2016 based on defense alone. The production Span produced in the prior couple years will not likely be matched. The guys they are losing (besides Zimmermann) have given them little this year. (Span, Fister, Desmond)

Huh? I know Taylor is playing CF in place of Span. But Taylor was playing LF while Span was in, so who is playing LF with Span out? If it's someone who will be in the OF next year, fine. But if it's not, you have to add that player's value to what Span has already given this year.

I want the Nats to get Kimbrel and give up a lot to so it. Sure, it would make me throw up a little, but I'd rather the Nats hurt themselves by giving up prospects and money for a closer.

Lol... You viewing the Nationals without bias... that's rich

He was signed as a 27 year old international free agent by the Yankees... So forgive me if, yes... Maybe there is some credence to his 28 year old AAA season. You know... Right after he started playing American professional baseball for the first time.

Who gives a rats dick about the Nats. This is a Braves board. Let's get back on topic and talk about rumors not the Nats.

Looks today like Papeldouche instead.

Unlikely to happen. You're forgetting the history of the current San Diego GM. He may end up giving Kimbrel for free.

Speaking of which... Marcell Ozuna from the marlins apparently available. This is definitely a buy low guy i'd be interested in. Thoughts?

Looks like the Nats are actually all in for Papelbon. They're all rumors!

But, the Royals get Zobrist and that team is becoming more and more nasty. Cueto alone was huge.

Taylor replaced Werth when Werth got injured. Then when Span got injured, Taylor moved to center and LF has been Robinson/den Dekker, Moore (maybe?), and Espinosa (a little). That's certainly a negative WAR (unless Robinson brings it to around 0).
