Trade deadline thread

I have doubts that Boston sells when they are 2-3 games back of the last WC. But if they do Nick Pivetta is someone that would be useful either out of the pen or as spot starter. He's been pretty dominant out of the pen.

It may not be that exciting of a deadline seeing all of the teams within striking distance of the last wild card slot. But more buyers and fewer sellers will drive up the price on the guys who will likely be moved.

The teams that should be selling (Padres, Mets, and Cardinals) all seem to have a mandate to win next year or the GM loses their job, so I assume we won’t see them make any significant moves.

Mets should at least sell off guys on expiring deals like Robertson, Pham, Ottavino, etc. Doubtful they'd trade guys like Alonso, Scherzer, JV. Cards have enough pieces to bounce back next year, i wouldnt trade off Goldy/Arenado unless they got an absolute haul back. Preller could probably sell and buy tho.

Braves and Phillies screwed up the deadline for the next few years. They were both out of it and made it to the series. Teams will always think they are the next team to do it. Maybe rightfully so.

I think is not going to happen but I think the Braves should trade for Eloy Jimenez. He can play LF or DH only 26 and a nice contract.

Not real shocking but Braves interested in Duvall again. Wouldnt hate it as long as the cost isnt too crazy. McHugh for Duvall would make sense for both sides. He'd give them BP depth next year, and clears a spot in our BP.

No it wouldn’t. BP is a need. The OF really isn’t, even if Rosario does suck.

We're missing Anderson/Chavez/Lee/Minter, while having what we have already. I dont think moving McHugh for Duvall would be that awful but Pillar/Rosario has been fine.

I don’t see what Duvall gives us that Pillar doesn’t. RH power bat, low OBP, decent in center and excellent on the corners. They’re the same guy but Pillar is cheaper.

And we shouldn’t move any reliever whose arm miraculously hasn’t fallen off.

Not sure Pillar can play center anymore. Duvall also has much more power. But, otherwise I agree.

Duvall has been awful since coming back from injury and has sucked agaisnt lefties. Pass.

I’d rather keep Pillar against LHPs and trade for a bat good against RHPs (and preferably good at defense), along the team to move on from Rosario.

I don’t see the point in adding another guy to dh and lf.

If you make a move I think you need to get someone who is taking over that spot. A real upgrade.
