Trade deadline thread

I still think we are done. Fried and Wright have probably shown signs of being able to return... and the Braves have a bunch of BP guys that they are already paying that the Braves are not DFA'ing.. I mean I would love to upgrade Yates.. but I don't see it.

Graveman would have for sure been an upgrade but he’s not a guy that really moves the needle much for me. A lot of walks without the strikeout upside.

Don’t mind missing out on him

And that's just the issue. Assuming all of our main bullpen guys for back healthy eventually, where is the roster spot for an additional acquisition going to come from.

AA isn’t done. We have too many question marks and no internal answers. The bp I think will be ok with Minter, Lee, and Chavez coming back but we need another good SP.

yep.. Lee/Minter/Uncle Jessie/N. Anderson.. that means they will have to probably DFA 1-2 people when those guys start returning. I mean I guess guys can get paid vacations on the IL too..

That's a huge assumption. I think we need to plan on multiple relievers to be hurt at any one time.

Pretty underwhelming return for the Sox. A FV 45 pitcher (Nastrini), a reliever that's not even ranked on their prospect list (Leasure), and a 32 year old reserve outfielder. Nastrini is supposed to have good stuff but he can't locate his pitches and hasn't had great results to date.

Lynn has been pretty awful though, even if he does have some gaudy K numbers. -1.3 WAR is hard to stomach. Of course, he'll turn likely into Jacob DeGrom on the Dodgers.

How do you stock pile relievers with no options. If we trade for a BP arm, then someone is getting cut... not optioned. So I don't think the Braves can 'plan' for any relievers to be hurt.

Cutting some guys wouldn't be a huge loss. Pierce Johnson, Ben Heller, and Taylor Hearn are prime options for upgrade. If we're in October relying on Pierce Johnson in a high leverage situation because we counted on Minter, Lee, and Anderson to come back healthy, we're in trouble.

You are overvaluing Lynn due to name recognition.

Chirinos (sp?) is starting a game for a World Series contender. That’s all that needs to be said.

AA needs to grab an impact SP.

I think SP is more important than the bullpen. I think we have enough pieces to mash together the bullpen. The rotation is a much larger concern.

What would it take to get Kirby from Seattle? If we took back Robbie Ray, who is out with Tommy John surgery and has a huge contract, could we get Kirby with the pieces we have?
