Trade deadline thread

Agreed. Verlander will likely be a Dodger. Or if not, the Tigers will probably just give Rodriguez to the Dodgers.

That's silly. The tigers will give the Mets prospects to have them send Verlander to the Dodgers and then they'll give the Dodgers ERod for the privilege to do all of it.

Mets are gonna have to kick in a good bit of money for Verlander to work for us. Something like Scherzer deal. I don't think I could stomach sending them AJSS for him though.

A lot more movement today than I expected. What’s one surprise name that will be traded?

Idk if it would be a surprise but i could see the Braves trade McHugh. For non-Braves teams, i'll throw out and say Cease but i'm not sure that would be a huge surprise.

I could see AA trading Soroka before AJSS if a team actually wanted him. But I don’t think AA will be shy about parting with AJSS either if the right deal came along.

I don’t either. He’d have to be controllable but yeah I agree.

The #Mets are engaged in trade discussions with the #Dodgers and #Astros about Cy Young winner Justin Verlander. Verlander's contract certainly is a big hurdle in discussions. He is being paid $43.3 million this year, $43.3 million next year, with a $35M vesting option in 2025.

Of course. If they are going to trade him, they want it to potentially screw us in the postseason.

The Mets should definitely trade Verlander to the Dodgers, as that would just make it even easier for me to keep getting him and Scherzer confused.

No thanks on JV. I didn’t realize he had a vesting option for 35 million in 25. He’s already 40 so no thanks on that contract.

I'm thinking AA lets the deadline pass quietly. Way too many guys who could have helped us have gone for packages we could have easily beaten. I don't think he's willing to give anything up.

I just think he has a couple of guys he wants and won’t budge on anybody else.
