Trades/acquisitions

SD seems to be willing to trade away any non-elite prospect for immediate help...and then are able to magically restock the prospect shelf.

I'm guessing they had to give up a FV 50 plus more, but who knows.

Because their prospects are seemingly overvalued and other front offices are stupid as ****.

Some of those trades have worked out terribly. The reason they even need Scherzer is because of the trades for Clevinger and Snell haven't gone as planned.

Bowden says players have been agreed upon. Working through medical records now and of course, Scherzer has to waive his no trade rights. No reason for him not to

And yet folks here cry about AA not getting those guys, and everyone bends over backwards congratulating Preller on being an amazing GM.

And...they are in 3rd place.

Last year was Clevinger. Obviously, the Braves dodged a bullet in that case. But it is a risk you always take

Exactly though... that's my point... if we had gone for the Scherzer like player last year... it wouldn't have helped anything. And its not like Clevinger didn't have injury concerns... he was always thought to be a risk. Scherzer is a horse.

Let's all guess who the headliner is for Scherzer.

I'm guessing they wanted Bart from SF, and that's why it didn't happen.

So Campusano, Kim and Hassell seem like the most likely guys to head the package from SD.

I'll go with Hassell.

The playoff odds currently stand right at 10%. Judging from the 11% boost Marte gave the As, adding an impact bat like Bryant should be good for a roughly 10% boost in playoff odds to roughly 20%.

Adding 1-2 arms to the BP should bump that up to 20%-25%. If the Cubs are in love with some sub-FV50 prospect I would like to see it happen. If means giving up Waters I'm not such a big fan...and I'm the low man around here on Waters.

So, Pache, Langeliers, A-Jax and Trey Harris are all out of their respective lineups tonight. It's probably nothing but Trade Deadline...
