Trades You'd Make At The Drop Of A Hat...

I'd rather just keep Uribe.

Turner only has 1 more year of control after this year.

You think we could get uribe to sign for 1 year or would it take 2? With nobody available at 3b in free agency, we may have a little competition for uribe.

Probably or 1 year, with a vesting option depending on AB's.

Not much out there at 3B.

It just sucks that CJ is stuck at 3rd with that contract...also sucks that Peraza is blocked at 2nd by Jace and I don't see him moving to 3rd now...of course Albies is blocked as well but a few years away...I wouldn't mind seeing them at least try Jace at 3rd (has he ever played there) or just leave him at 2nd and try Peraza at 3rd and of course Simmons at SS...also if we are selling which we should, when should we expect to see a few guys come up...I think we should see Peraza this year or showcase him in the least if they've possibly got that in mind

Seager is the top prospect in baseball, get real.

He's ONE of the top in baseball. With no place to play, especially since he's going to be a 3B at the ML level.

Oakland traded Russell to the Cubs last year for Smardzjia who had less time left to control and is very arguably a lesser pitcher.

The Dodgers might not do it. But, I would. In the drop of a hat.

Rollins and Kendrick are both FA's, there's nowhere to play?

Anyone could be traded but its gonna take alot more than Miller/Peraza to net that kind of return.

Of course you would, i'd trade Markakis for Mike Trout, wont happen so not worth talking about.

That was Billy having one of those moments he has where his mind triple loops and he talks himself into a deal because he's the smartest man in baseball.

He wouldn't make that deal again in a thousand years. He ****ed up.

I haven't (yet) seen any evidence that Friedman is infected with the same kind of hubris. In fact, he probably made the trade of the year offing Kemp to the moron in SD and getting Grandal among others back.

I rather doubt anyone laughs at that. Who knows that package would get it down. But, Shelby Miller was a top 10 prospect 3 years ago and is currently living up the hype. If he can't get Seager then who exactly can he get? Front line starters generally bring back elite prospects.

Come on Carp, Heyward knows everything. Seen into the future and knows how it all plays out before it ever happens so no need to even call because, after all, who wants to get laughed at?

It's not like I offered that package for Trout. It was an established MLB pitcher having an outstanding year, under control for 3 more years at reasonable numbers and a top 100 ss/2B. I thought people would say I was "overpaying."

Dodgers have plenty of pitching, their problem over the last few years has been offense.

I'd love to get Seager but its very unlikely LA trades him.

Yep, the Dodgers probably wouldn't make that trade simply because they aren't going to trade Seager, but they wouldn't laugh at it. Miller has a ton of value as one of the best starters in the NL who is under team control through 2018. And the trade makes sense from the Dodgers needs both this year and going forward. Anderson has been one of the most injury prone starters in baseball the past 4-5 years, and Bolsinger seems to have started to fall down towards his talent level over the last month and a half. They could use another starter this year and going forward into next year, and need a SS for the future, so it would be a pretty fair trade for both sides.

Maybe they dont laugh it off but they have McCarthy and Ryu back next year, and can always sign someone without trading Seager.

How have the Dodgers problems been offense the last few years? They've had one of the best offenses in the NL practically every year the last few years. They have not had much weakness at all recently, as evidence of their W/L records.

Yes pitching is not a "need" for them, but teams like the Dodgers are always looking to improve. Even teams like Dodgers have a payroll limitations. Miller gives them a lot of payroll flexibility for the next 3 years. Would you rather pay Greinke or Price 25 million next year or pay Miller a fraction of the cost for similar results?

They have Turner at the hot corner for a little while longer and he is doing outstanding for them. So it wouldn't be extremely shocking for them to move Seager for a high end pitcher like Miller.

I'm not just directing this reply to you, but to just about everyone posting on this thread. Baseball history proves that these things have a remarkable way of working themselves out. Injuries, unexpected trades, retirements -- it's all been said and done before. I generally don't get involved in these discussion because it is, to me, a huge waste of time worrying about people being "blocked" or who's being showcased (or not).

To me, the fact are this: no one wants CJ. Uribe is a good bet for a one year deal, but if someone else offers him two, he's gone like so many other veterans the Braves have had in recent years. Call it the Ross Effect. As for players being blocked, spring training usually sorts these things out; if someone loses their job and is untradeable, then it's time to DFA and eat the contract.

Uhh, last 2 playoff series losses vs Stl, their offense went MIA.

I'd take my chances with Greinke or Price, Miller will get expensive eventually.

Turner has 1 more of control after this year, then he's a FA, he's not going to be why they trade Seager. Take off the homer glasses. And yes, it would be pretty shocking to see them trade Seager for Miller.

Could always go something like Gonzalez, Seager, SS, Olivera.

You act like a team with 200ish mil payroll isn't trying to win the WS this year. You are talking about a team that signed Olivera when they have nowhere to play him. I wouldn't say them trading Seager is in any way likely, but it's not some crazy thing either.

Yah but I don't know if I'd want to gamble on Puig not being a clubhouse problem

I can't think of a manger who has less in common with Puig than Don Mattingly. This could be where Fredi is a huge asset. Short-term even.
