TUESDAY MINORS FINAL 7/23 ... Bullpen Blows Save for Soroka

Firewood Catfish! Now THERE'S a nickname a Southerner can get behind. Then we can start calling him FireCat for short.

Seriously, everyone needs to cool the hell down over this Acuna ranking crap. This whole time, I was more inclined to put him in the Christian Yelich category, which ain't bad. He was not at as high a level at age 19, but he wasn't drafted until 18, after all. In bigs at age 21, skipping AAA.

Acuna as a Andruw/Trout/Harper level talent might be overrating him.

But, he's a great base runner, really good defensively, already showing pop at 19 years old. His main weakness is striking out. But it's not a huge hyperbole.

Lol you can think whatever you want.

Nobody with half a clue will agree with you. Pose the question to live chats on sites like FG and MLBTR and see what impartial analysts have to say.

To be fair, braves homers were about the only ones that had Acuna rated higher than most coming into this year impartial prospect sites included. So homerism yeah, but most were on him before the services got reactive to his game. Does that make them "incorrect" on him? Or do they get to redo their grades after this year and become "correct"?

I only ask because internet points are at stake

Comparing Acuna to Yelich is faint praise. Ronald has more pop. Yelich had 15 HR in A ball at 19 years old. Acuna has 15 across A+/AA/AAA in 100 fewer AB.

Need I remind anyone that Acuna also hit .375 with 2 HR, 5 2B, and 10 BB with only 13 K and 13 stolen bags in 72 AB in Australia over the winter?

Acuna is going to have a .300/30/30 year in the big leagues.

I was correct on Aaron Judge. I thought he'd hit 30 bombs this year (LOL) after that .179 disaster last year. Now he's arguably the biggest star in the sport.

If homers say every single Braves prospect should be ranked higher, were they really right about anything when one actually shoots up lists?

Lugbauer with another blast. He has 10 now.

Anything can change over time with prospects but the last threes years of drafting has been incrediblessed so far. The scouting machine that has been built since hart was brought in has definitely done it's job thus far.

I wonder if Wentz weren't buried on our own list, if he'd be higher in baseball as a whole. If he was, say, our 4th or 5th best guy, would he get more attention? Just a thought.

What are your thoughts on my Sammy Sosa (pre roids) comp?

Acuna is going to hit more HRs this year than Sosa hit in his entire minor league career. Not really, but his power is much better. Sosa also only posted a .717 OPS in the minors.

He was then pretty bad at the MLB level his first 2 years.

They aren't really comparable at all.
