Uribe and KJ to NYM

confused....ppl are mad?

We never had a shot this year. We made that clear.

we turned callaspo, kJ and ian thomas into 1 WAR out of Uribe plus winthrow, Walen and Gant. Keeping both guys makes us maybe win a handful of games we don't need to win.

If we really want either guy back we can get them back in a couple of months. But ideally we are looking to upgrade if we are legit players in 2017.

I'd love elite guys, but if the Braves gave up a top 25 prospect for this package we'd all go nuts.

Looks like these two will be promoted.

Daniel Castro and Adonis Garcia were both pulled in the 2nd inning of tonight's game in Gwinnett. May be headed to St. Louis

Not a fan of strengthening a division rival for a minimal return at best. No problem with trading Uribe or KJ, definitely the correct decision to move guys like that at this point. However, to package them together to a division opponent, I'd expect a better return.

From the Mets, any of Rosario, Molina, Nimmo, Smith or Cecchini should have been the headliner. If you couldn't get them, make the mets include Meisner, Fulmer, Becerra or Morris.

Let's hope Whalen and Gant come better than advertised. And hope we get better returns for AJ or JJ

LOL Kazmir didnt even bring that.

If you expected one of their top guys for a bench player and Uribe, then you have some very high/unrealistic expectations.

Seems like a fair trade...two role players on expiring deals for a C+ and C prospect. It's really a no-lose proposition for the Braves while the Mets add two competent bats to a roster sorely lacking.

Sadly, Uribe and Johnson are probably now our two best hitters...

I'd honestly rather watch KJ and Uribe play the rest of the year than get two fringey, organizational filler types. Guys who top out as number 5 starters is exactly what I didn't want. I'd rather get one big armed reliever than two low ceiling, low velocity right handlers.

Probably a bit unrealistic to think they could get Hunter Strickland.

#SFGiants did, in fact, speak with #Braves about Juan Uribe before he was dealt to #Mets. @FOXSports

Whalen is likely a good pen option for cheap and under control for years. For guys we were going to lose in 2 months anyway. And we can still get them back if we want.

The Dodgers dumped Uribe. KJ was signed for 1 year w/o a ton of competition. People are acting like we traded people who would excite any fan base. KJ and uribe are not difference makers.

I know nothing of the guys we got but the players we traded could of been had for next to nothing at various times since last offseason. Expecting anything signifigant is setting yourself up for failure. And I don't understand those lamenting about trading within the division. In certain cases that can be an issue. But trading two roleplayers in their 30's who are free agents to be when you are not contending is not one of those situations.

Won't mind giving these guys a shot. I guess we'll be "showcasing" CJ, though.

Yep, why people think we should get a great/top tier prospect is baffling.

Kazmir is a #2-3 type starter and he wasnt traded for too much.

Expecting a great return for KJ/Uribe is wishful thinking, on hand it looks like a fine deal for both sides.

Saw new Braves RHP John Gast last month: 90-93 t94, soild avg 4 pitch mix, athletic, solid back-end type

I know nothing about the Mets system. So I will hold off on saying good or bad for now. Seems like Whalen might be something.

Both are solid 40-45 FV guys, likely MLB contributors in a 1-2 years, could both be (upside) league avg starters or (downside) long/setup RP

I wasn't expecting a top 10 prospect or anything, I just want someone who has a chance to be more than a back end of the rotation guy or swingman. I would rather have the guy the Brewers got for Ramirez. At least he has a live arm. We honestly have no need for these guys. Keeping our major leaguers and giving the fans a few more fun games would have been preferable to giving them away.

Gant doesn't seem like such a long shot. Additionally, with all the arms that the Braves have gotten, do you really think these arms won't be serviceable in some way? It's a shot in the dark considering our best prospects are SP's!
