Viz and Teheran listed as top trade candidates

I don't see the Rangers as a very good partner for Teheran. Our best trade partners, IMO, are Boston, Houston, Cleveland, and Chicago, in that order. It's hard to see either a) a trade happening or b) me being happy with the return with any other team. With Houston, you're probably going to have to take younger options that are further away, and with Chicago, I feel like we'd have to go with quantity over quality for guys with lower ceilings. Cleveland would probably have to give us both Zimmer and Frazier for me to love a deal with them, and I don't see that happening. I would accept something like Frazier/Aiken/McKenzie/Mejia, but that would lack the multiple impact bats I want.

Not saying I would do that trade, but how worse is Schwarber in LF than Klesko was for us back in the day?

I honestly think he may struggle with his bat quite a bit more unless he makes some serious adjustments. Everyone remembers his scorching start... after that, he was pretty bad and couldn't hit breaking pitches.

Forget about Klesko, we were recently running Evan Gattis out there in LF. It doesn't get much worse than that. I believe he actually cost us runs in the playoffs against the Dodgers. What a disaster.

I'm torn.

We clearly need the bat, but he is a liability everywhere else in a ballpark.

Doesn't really matter, the Cubs have zero need for starting pitching, and certainly aren't trading Schwarber for Julio.

Our only realistic options for a team that actually needs starting pitching and have impact bats to trade are Boston or Houston. The Rangers as well, but I don't really want what they have to trade, way too boom or bust, and leaning towards bust.

LOVE Schwarber. Would absolutely stick him in LF and deal with the defensive disadvantage. But as has been said, we're not getting him.

He also hit 5 postseason HR. The bat is as legit as they come.

Soler also had a massive postseason

Yes. What is the point? You said Schwarber had a scorching start then was pretty bad (and while he did regress each month statistically, he still wasn't what I would call 'bad' in any single month)...except that he then also had a scorching finish.

Soler has only ever been good during last year's postseason.

His first year he was called up he was very good. Just saying, we've not seen enough of Schwarber to be sure and he has definite holes in his game.

He's only really played in the majors for half a season, so he definitely hasn't proven himself to be a pro stud. But I don't think his regression last year is proof that anyone has figured him out. I love his game. I think he has a decent chance to become the best overall hitter in the majors over the next few years.

I just saw that 88. That's pretty embarrassing. Bucholtz got lit up again. They have to do something soon, whether it's with us or somebody else.

If they plan to make the playoffs and make a run, they have to stabilize the rotation. Only question is if they feel like they should be mediocre this season and wait for future talent to come across or make a go of it
