What's next?

Keep Mallex and put him in left or right. Royals just won the WS primarily on the backs of amazing defense.
With markakis and Olivera out there I'm not sure if we will have d. And some still question mallex defense.

Free agent looks awful nxt yr outside of Strasberg. Maybe a good Tehran yr leads to another haul.

In 2017 I'd feel better about Newcombe and sims being ready

I'm thinking Nick gets moved within the next year. Doesn't really make much sense to keep him around.

I thought the current scouting report is that Olivera would be a decent LF because of his athleticism? I don't think his below average 3B defense automatically translates to LF.

I think our defense can at least be average with Inciarte in CF... By far our biggest weakness.

I think we trade Markakis, CB, and Arodys for a RH hitting OF who can play all 3 OF positions, and a LH hitting 3B/LF, and a lefty setup man. Then sign a veteran SP for the rotation with the money saved from moving Nick.

Love it....but who would want him? Are we going to swallow pride and eat over half the deal?

He's never made sense

I don't like Nick for this team since we are rebuilding. But he's a slightly below average player making market value prices so there should be several teams that could use that without the Braves having to each much if any of the contract.

I guess we will have to see how it shakes out. Olivera is just a huge question mark all around.

Yeah. Nick still has a lot of value. I don't think we'd eat any of the contract, unless it was to a small market team who was willing to give a greater return for us doing so.

Apparently Coppy received 10 calls already on Inciarte. I really like having him but with the presence of Mallex I would not be against flipping him for another positional need like 3B. I wonder what Inciarte and Bethancourt could fetch.

If we could trade him for someone like Soler, then I'm down. That being said, I like Inciarte, a lot and wouldn't trade him unless it is a great deal.

I actually think Inciarte for Baez makes a lot of sense for both the Cubs and the Braves.

I agree. Maybe Inciarte for Soler would make sense too. The Cubs get their CFer and can then go out and sign Heyward for RF. That Cubs team would be absolutely loaded if they added a little more pitching.

Maybe expand the deal to be Inciarte and Teheran for Soler, Baez and Underwood?

Then sign Latos?

I think some permutation of that General trade would work. Maybe add Bethancourt and a relief pitcher from our side.

Love this news from DOB:

#Braves contine to talk with non-tendered free agent LH Mike Minor about possibly re-signing

I would trade Inciarte in a second for the right return. He's basically a top of the order type bat on a team filled with those whose chief value is his defense. He's a 4th OF on a good team or a LO guy on a team getting production from its middle infielders.
