The problem is that a communist utopia is a hopeless fantasy because the same societal pitfalls they find in their capitalist society are present in communist societies, except the institutions are even more centralized. I think Marx was wrong for the same reason I think Adam Smith was wrong: human societies quickly grow too complex as they grow larger, and because resources are always going to be scarce, people will inevitably seek ways to increase their share of those resources. I’ll stick with the version where the consolidated wealth at least only *indirectly* controls the military *and* media.

I tepidly agree, but I don’t think it’s due to sinister plots by social Marxists to destroy the West. I think it’s because we do a better job of teaching right and wrong when it comes to aggression and violence than we do for things like starving your people, and both Nazis and Confederates were short-term movements that fit neatly into a box of evil that America defeated. One cannot look at the Civil War and think “huh, we should have kept slavery going” or “gassing all the Jews was fine” but a naive person can look at the actions of the USSR and China and think “well they just had the wrong leaders” and that the system could work if it just had the right leaders. and because most history is taught by high schools with teachers that are often either unequipped or unwilling to really teach students about the institutional atrocities of Communist regimes it gets lost in the shuffle.

If academics did their job effectively, their students would learn early on that there are no circumstances where the forced labor of other people can end peacefully. Communism has not been tried twice.but dozens of times and the death toll and poverty is astounding, not to mention the slavery.

Update to this saga no one cares about. Asmongold, popular streamer that Elon previously followed and interacted with, made a video covering Elon lying about being video games (again lol). Elon got so butthurt he unfollowed Asmongold, removed his checkmark (also the checkmark of some other content creators who made videos covering it), and leaked his DMs with Asmongold exposing him for *checks notes* having YouTube editors lol

Banning TikTok while even more Chinese apps sit untouched in the App Store was a bit of an unforced error, because young people are never, ever going to implicitly understand that *not everyone* in a Communist dictatorship suffer the same systemic issues. There absolutely are going to be many, many people in comfortable, high-tech environments within Communist China. That’s how they are able to maintain a Communist China. Hell, even Oceania knew to have a lottery for the proles and an outer party. There are just many, many, many more that make that possible who aren’t going to have cell phones and nice suburban lives, and the people with the cell phones and nice suburban lives know better than to share that information with Americans on the app their government can track.

Or, Hakeem was just making a tongue-in-cheek joke. It's estimated egg prices will stay high probably for most of the year due to avian flu.
Now that Trump is in office, we're going to have a plethora of internet experts on twitter who will suddenly know everything there is to know about avian flu and why Trump has nothing to do with egg prices.
Or, Trump will simply lower the bar by not forcing farmers to kill their exposed chickens, or make regulations lax enough to try and ignore avian flu in the chicken population and just encourage farmers to ignore it.
