Why Academics Leftists and Elitists Need to Treat Ordinary Americans With Respect

This is a product of academia and hive mind thinking

So weird, why would anybody have sympathy for the side in the conflict that saw an entire city destroyed and tens of thousands of civilians killed before being told by the US President that they will be expelled from that city while the United States takes possession of it?

only a product of academia would have sympathy for brutal terrorists who kill women and gays for being women and gay

40,000 Palestinians have killed women and gays?!?! Wow, we should have done something about that sooner.

Honestly it’s only from our good graces that they still exist. At some point you poke the bear enough the bears gonna go full bear and take you out

I’d say stay out of it and let the chips fall where they may

Hahahaha ****ing idiots who our board lecturer consider "highly educated" and are the reason why California is considered to be great

Pew Research Center's 2019 Survey: According to a report from 2019, there's a notable correlation between education and positive views of socialism. Specifically, the survey found that among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, those with higher education levels were more likely to have positive views of socialism. For instance, 65% of Democrats viewed socialism positively, which includes those with higher education levels being more inclined towards socialism compared to their less-educated counterparts (web:5).

General Trends: Another point from the research indicates that young people, including those likely to be in or have recently completed higher education, show about equal positivity towards both socialism and capitalism. This is highlighted in data where 50% of adults younger than 30 had positive views of socialism, compared to 52% for capitalism, suggesting an educational correlation with political views (web:5)

Demographic Analysis: Further, the study showed that among different demographic groups, including by education level, there was a notable trend. For example, those with a high school education or less were more likely to view socialism positively than those with higher education levels in some contexts, but the trend among Democrats with higher education was towards more positive views of socialism (web:3, web:5).

Detailed Findings: The 2019 Pew Research study (web:5) indicates that among Democrats, those with higher education levels (like college graduates) were more likely to view socialism positively. This contrasts with Republicans, where higher education levels correlated with more negative views of socialism.

It is true that some highly educated people have odd views. Consider this gentleman, who holds an MD:

“All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the big bang theory, all that
is lies straight from the pit of Hell... It’s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught
that from understanding that they need a savior... You see, there are a lot of scientific data that
I’ve found out as a scientist that actually show that this is really a young Earth. I don’t believe
that the earth’s but about 9,000 years old. I believe it was created in six days as we know them.
That’s what the Bible says.”
Rep.Paul Broun (R-Ga.), member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and
Technology, 2012

You are free to associate belief in God as a lack of intelligence.

I am free to associate people who who believe covid came from a bat, masks stop respitory viruses, and that socialism is a better economic system than capitalism as lack of intelligence

Luckily, the latter has actual evidence and data

I don't associate religiosity with lack of intelligence. I have colleagues for whom I have much respect who are committed Christians. None of them take thinks like the earth was created in six days literally. Yes, the guy I quoted is an idiot (in spite of being an MD). This is not to say all religious people are idiots.

Great. Thank you for responding to my statistically valid survey results of a large swath of people with an example of a random dude

Another interesting quote from a different era (but perhaps in keeping with the spirit of our times):

“To keep ourselves right in all things, we ought to hold fast to this principle: What I see as
white I will believe to be black if the hierarchical church thus determines it.”
(Ignatius de Loyola, founder of theJesuit order–Spiritual Exercises (1522–1524),13thRule).

The Jesuits have founded some great universities and have a reputation for intellectual rigor. I myself teach at a Catholic University founded by a different order. Fortunately, our great universities have risen above some of their founders' embarrassing sentiments. Unfortunately, many parts of society hold views today similar to the one expressed by Loyola.

You can google it.

Why do you think such a high number of highly educated support socialism, though?

Shouldn't their academic achievement have taught them how much a failure socialism is?

Actually, the small snippet you lifted seems to indicate that education doesn't have the same effect on everyone. To quote from your snippet:

"This contrasts with Republicans, where higher education levels correlated with more negative views of socialism."

Thanks for the link btw.

I guess republicans aren't dumb enough to be swayed from academia the sames dems are.

For example, I'm college educated. I fondly recall laughing at my professors who were selling me on the virtues of socialism

The good news for dems is that MAGA seems to be pulling a lot of former Republicans that direction. Trump is able to do what the academics aren't capable of

I had a similar experience in college. I went to a school that was way out to the left. Which made me more convinced of my conservative views. Then I went to work on Wall Street, which led me to reconsider some of those views.
