Wren "dismissed" --

For those saying that Bobby's comments about Fredi were strictly political ... don't be 100% convinced.

I'm hearing what some other folks have speculated with #braves: Wren wanted Fredi Gonzalez out, and Bobby Cox pushed to keep him.

Ugh

He also made it sound like the clubhouse has been a mess for well over a year.

Seems like somebody retired about two seasons ago.

What was his name? Leonard or Lester or ... something with Ls and Rs that you could really hear New Yorkers chanting derisively.

J Hart drafted me, J Schuerholz traded 4 me & B Cox coached me. I can personally attest this maybe the best team ever assembled! #LEADERSHIP

Somebody's auditioning for a front-office role.

Chopper? Isn't that what Chip called him? Chopper 't Chipper or something like that.

Wren is the bigger picture. Bobby may not understand the whole picture, but I can't believe some can't see the issues with Wren. Don't get me wrong. Fredi should go as well.

That's not what I'm talking about. It is impossible to defend Fredi objectively at this point. Wren needed to go but Fredi needs to more.

Dumping Wren before Fredi was the right move. Fredi makes lots of bad moves, but a bad manager can't do nearly as much damage to an organization as a bad GM can (see Ruben Amaro). Wren wasn't as bad as Rube, but he consistently tied up a quarter of our payroll in replacement level players and our farm system has gotten worse under his reign as well.

I have no trouble with both of them being gone, but the way things came crashing down this year, I find it difficult to argue that Wren should maintain his position. Fredi has managed poorly and we didn't have much luck on the injury front, especially with the pitching staff, but just like with players, I'd rather make a move on a GM a year early than a year late.

And if there really was an organizational rift thanks to Wren, then I'm okay with his departure. I really don't think he did a poor job in his stint as GM though.
