Yahoo Sources: Braves Offer John Hart Full-Time GM Job

Not entirely surprised if they don't feel Coppolella is ready yet.

If they have given Hart the full-time job, I can easily see him stepping down by the time the new park opens and give the reigns over to JC. They've already announced JC will have more duties and responsibility with the club, so sounds like they're grooming him to be the next guy.

I still think our best option is to promote Coppolella to GM and have Hart be his main advisor.

JS was 67 when he stepped down as GM.

Bobby was 69 when he last managed.

Hart is 66 right now. Sounds like 2-3 years in the big chair is the max. Would be weird though since he and JS are almost like equals... if JS would overstep his authority.

I think it would be a really good move. Like Sav is saying, you groom coppolella into the job. Clearly Hart is going to give Coppolella a lot of say and really respect the guy. It's essentially moving toward the sabermetrics philosophy. The only big question is does Hart want the job?

Being a GM isn't just about making trade and signing free agents. Hart knows the business and knows the job and clearly seems to be more than willing to consider a younger philosophy in building a team. I think it would be a great hire.

I think it's possible they make Hart GM and expand Coppolella's duties to keep him around.

It doesn't seem the #Braves GM search has changed. Schuerholz still wants Hart, but Hart seems reluctant to accept a full-time role

To get to a point in your life where you don't want to be a major league GM must be awesome. That has to be the ultimate dream job for all of us. I can't even fathom being in a position where I would say... "No thanks. I don't want to be GM of a Major League baseball team."

Manno is gone so I think they're hoping Hart will take the GM position, promote Coppolella to Asst. GM and then take over when he's ready and Hart retires.

With the Braves, he has a team with a wonderful tradition, an operation he has called the "golf standard", a nice young foundation, and a pitching staff with some serious talent. He also has a manager he seems to like in Fredi Gonzalez, and an up-and-coming potential GM John Coppolella he likes very much. He also has Schuerholz, so close to Hart he always seemed like his partner even all those years they worked in opposite leagues.

My goodness the media is having a field day with this bromance.

Am I the only one who isn't a fan of Hart getting the job? I like the guy, and am cool with him being involved in some capacity, but I feel like he's already had his time. And I really dont think he was that great of a GM when he was. Get some new blood in there.
