Yes. Making the playoffs usually means your team doesn't suck

This team was a 77% win team for two months last year. Specifically March and April in which they were 19-8. They played 55% baseball the rest of the way. They had no shot to win the world series. So yes...it's been more than a year of mediocre baseball. Saying they made the playoffs is cool to you...so be it. They did. It's better than not. But if that's your bar for what you expect, ok.Yes. Yes - the only reason they made it was Sale won the Cy Young, Schwellenbach was terrific, the rest of the rotation was at least steady, the bullpen was mostly lockdown, and the team did show at least some mental resilience. Oh and the D'Backs fell apart at the end and the Mets completely tanked the last game of that Monday doubleheader. This team was a 77% win team for two months last year. We really didn't have much of a shot to win in 21 either. If Sale had of been healthy at the end of last year things could have went different. I know the bats went to sleep again but it's the playoffs and anything can happen. This team was a 77% win team for two months last year. Specifically March and April in which they were 19-8. .550 winning percentage is winning baseball, my friend. This team was a 77% win team for two months last year. Specifically March and April in which they were 19-8. The Braves made the playoffs because their good players played good. Incredible.Yes - the only reason they made it was Sale won the Cy Young, Schwellenbach was terrific, the rest of the rotation was at least steady, the bullpen was mostly lockdown, and the team did show at least some mental resilience. Or: “They were only good because their roster full of good players were good.”My favorite thing about the internet is the "yeah they've made the playoffs many, many years in a row, but here is why that well actually sucks."
Good to see you mathing my friend..550 winning percentage is winning baseball, my friend.
Grichuck should have been a Brave like three times by now.
72-67 after after the 17-6 start. Even taking into account injuries, that performance with the overall talent level was underachievement. The team’s performance since last May has been mediocre.
What's your definition of not mediocre? I surmise that .500 is indeed mediocre. It's the mean. The average. May -July was 39-40. (You forgot July). They were 3 and 4 wins better to end August and September. No one underestimated injuries so you have a point. Fast forward to this year and you've had one winning month. And 133-132 record from last year to this year is medicore. But I grant you they made the playoffs. No small feat I guess. An underachievement? With the reigning MVP being out for most of the year and your all-star 2b and 3b being hurt/out for long periods of time? That's a lot of production to make up.
And with that being said. That's a nice way to cherry pick your numbers.
The team was mediocre May through June. The team went 31-24 in August and Sept to end the season. That's a 91 win pace and usually secures you a playoff spot in a given season. To say the team has been medicore/bad since May of last year is just inaccurate.

Because going back to last year, when they actually made the playoffs, and including the horrible team this year to really drag down the win % is just moronic. At no point were the Braves bad last year. They were mediocre in the middle of the season but good enough outside of that to make the playoffs. I just find it hilarious that some people want to discredit that feat with all the injuries that the team has been below average for over a year and a half. Too much revisionist history for me. People were quite optimistic about our playoff chances last year until Sale went down the last week of the year.Starting with May 1 of last year, the team is 114-123. I'm not sure where the disconnect is here. They also had stretches this season where they went 12-5 and 9-3. I'm talking about the overall.
The injury excuses are tiresome. They suck. They do have an impact. But Acuña was not good at all in the time he did play (granted because he got hurt in spring training and was never healthy). Riley had a little bit of a hot streak in the summer but wasn't exactly lighting it up. Albies wasn't good before his injury. Harris heated up but underachieved.
Other teams have/have had injuries. The results in the games are what matter.
Agreed. This is not hard to see. Underachieved....that's no exaggeration.Bottom line is the team has underachieved for the past 2 years pretty much. The team should have had better quality depth but even if we would have had that depth it would not have over come the amount of injuries that we've had. I try to look at the glass half full so I'm gonna say that this year has been an eye opening experience for AA. I'll give him this coming offseason to see how he overcomes the amount of holes (there are a ton including a new manager) and if he doesn't address what the team needs to be back on top then I'll grab my pitchfork and join some of yall.
