You could have gotten Jhaon Duran and another decent pitcher (maybe even Bailey Ober) for that package. Instead you send a top 20 overall prosect for a league average closer and a 5th starter.

Preller is the anti-AA... he makes deals just to hear his name announced in the paper..

Yup. That's a horrendous trade, even if what they'll likely get back for moving Cease and Suarez today. But the Padres do not give a shit about their farm, so it's not shocking.

Nunez is a sleeper in that deal.. he could be a really good reliever for them.. The A's fleeced the crap out of Preller..

Cease is an expiring contact, so it's plausible we could have him for two months to play out this year.

but has AA ever dealt with BorAss before.. I think I read something that he didn't draft someone in the first round this year because he was a BorAss client.
