Terry McGuirk is 74 now, and doesn't appear to be anything more than a bean counter at this point. I doubt he has any meaningful input here.Terry McGurik was in charge of the Braves well before Cox retired and he's still at the helm.
Also, culture can continue through the tenures of different leaders. In fact businesses tend to hire leaders that fit the company's culture. The Braves have a very defined culture that they actively implement throughout the organization. So individuals already steeped in that culture will be seen as better fits than outsiders. I'd be very surprised if we hired someone who hadn't had some experience with the club.
I think Weiss will be attractive to the Braves leadership as someone who already knows how the Braves do things and who will provide continuity. Whether Weiss is a good choice is an entirely different question. I just think he's the odds on favorite.
