2025-2026 offseason thread

Dubon is insurance. I have to believe the plan is for him to be utility, but AA may also be telling the market that he won’t be bullied into overpaying for a SS.

They don’t want to play him there, but if nothing else is available, they don’t have to panic.
I agree. If they had to pivot they could get a big bat at another position.

this is also how I see it.. and Dubon as super utility is a good move.. it also makes where AA can shop for an OF or a SS for offensive upgrades..

2 good moves from AA so far. Good a really good utility guy and helped with the back end of the BP. That's 21 million he's spent so far so yeah he has plenty to spend.

I’m actually intrigued if Weiss will actually use a super utility guy in a way Snit didn’t. Which is actually giving an off day to starters multiple times a week.

Acquiring Dubon either means AA has money to spend (because he’s willing to pay for quality depth) or it means we have less than hoped for (because we are bargain shopping our biggest hole).

Or it means neither.

Overall I like the move

Spending something like $22M on Iggy and a utility player pretending to be an everyday SS is underwhelming in the sense of upgrading the roster over 2025, but it gives hope of a $250M payroll.

Yeah, I love the flexibility this Dubon move gives us. We obviously need to add another SS to the 26-man roster, but we can go a lot of different ways with that now. I still like Miguel Rojas as a value play.

MLB teams aren’t dumb. His peripherals and expecteds were normal.
And yet time and time again, we see that in FA, players get paid more for actual production, instead of imaginary production.

Look I like Williams a lot. I hope the Braves end up signing him. But you are insane if you think his FA potential wasn't affected by the year he had. He was on track to set a new record for a closer's FA contract.
