But yes, agreed. They got a guy with another year of team control and an arm for a player who's redundant in their system.

The Pads have a pretty damn good nucleus and just added a pitcher that should thrive in Petco (Kennedy).

If they were your team, we'd hear how they are on the cusp of greatness.

Keep in mind that a starter will go to the pen come the playoffs. Maybe two starters if all 6 of our current starters (Minor, Medlen, Teheran, Maholm, Beachy, Wood) are healthy and pitching well.

That's true but we pretty much have one high leverage righty out of the pen in Walden.

Outside of that, nothing great from the right side.

What is their nucleus? They are not close to competing at all.

Headley, Alonso, Gykorko, Grandel, Cabrera, Kuebke, Kelly, Kennedy....and they grow bullpen arms.

LOL they might but only if LA and SF completely dismantle. Its possible though. Heck, anything is possible.
 
I was wondering why the Braves didnt go after Hughes. I wont be surprised if they sign him in the offseason and he does very well with the Braves.

They are 50-58 this year with massive injuries that no other team in baseball could even compare to. They are going to be a really good team if they can keep their core together.

You do realize those offensive players would have massive increases in numbers if they played outside of Petco, right?

So you are saying once they leave the Padres in a couple of years they will put up better numbers but the Padres will still be good?
