Heyman on Braves' trade chips and Olivera

I would not mind making a big combo deal with the Rangers. Teheran, Viz,Cervenka and Rio Ruiz for Gallo,Profar and Brinson.

wow, there is a lot of swing and miss in those prospects..

how would you slate them.. Profar at 3B.. Brinson in CF?, Gallo in LF.. Dump Neck, move Ender or Brinson to RF.. Mallex 4OF?

3B -- Profar
SS Swanson
2B Ozzie
1B FF
C Ramos?/Flowers/anyone but AJ
LF Gallo
CF Ender
RF Brinson

that is a good mix of power OBP..

Brinson isn't ready yet, so you could keep Mallex in Cf and move Inciarte if his bat picks up the rest of the year. Then, maybe move Neck for wtvr you can get (even if you eat some $$$) sign Wilson Ramos for 3 years $40m and go this lineup for 2017

Profar-3b
Ozzie-2b/SS
FF-1b
Gallo-LF
Inciarte-RF
Swanson-2b/SS
Ramos- C
Pitcher
Mallex-CF

If Brinson becomes ready you can always give him his start as the 4th OF'er or platoon him with Mallex if his lefthander troubles continue.

Or even really go crazy and trade Freeman too and go with Gallo at 1b, Profar at 3b, and an OF of Smith,Brinson and Inciarte with Neck moved

EDIT: I doubt the Rangers would do that deal, not without us also adding someone like Newcomb or Blair

I don't think Texas is a good match for Teheran simply because they already are about to have six starters and all of them are pretty good and their top three includes two aces. IOW, I think he'd cost more than he's worth to Texas and I doubt they'd move Gallo anyway because they seem to want him to replace pending free agent Moreland at first base (Gallo has been playing first in the minors with that in mind).

That said, Texas bullpen is their main weakness as you could argue theirs is worse than ours despite Jeff Banister finding a way to make it work. So I am sure they would want Viz and probably another solid reliever too depending on the price in trade. I expect they'd be willing to trade Profar since they have Odor at second. But they may want more than Viz to do so with the way Profar is currently hitting for them.

Viz,Norris and Cervenka for Profar?

I don't think they'd want all three as they do have relievers coming back from injury later this year but Viz and Cervenka I'm sure they'd want (who wouldn't right?). My guess is they may want two relievers plus another infielder to replace Profar, but more a back-up type not a starter type like Profar.

I wouldn't trade Julio for anyone other than Moncada on the Sox... I know that is super unlikely to happen, but that's the only prospect I'd feel comfortable giving up Julio for.

Really like Moncada, but I would be okay with Benintendi instead. Beyond that, I would be looking for something else as well. I would like to add Swihart into the deal, but not as the centerpiece. Maybe his injury and their not liking him as a catcher would bring his value down a bit. Anybody know why they have soured on him as a C? Is his defense questionable, or is he blocked?

I don't really know. His season as a backup in 2015 showed good defensive metrics, but maybe they like other people better overall at catcher and thought he'd be better served in LF.... idk, I think he deserves a shot there though. a 5.9 UZR is pretty good for only 78 games at C

I think Boston has one or two Catchers ahead of him on their depth.. as far as defensive guys. I could be miss-remembering..

Maybe Benintendi/Swihart for Teheran/Markakis starts a conversation. I know Swihart is injured and might be out for a while, but this is thinking longer term than this year.

everybody raves about Benintendi, but he lacks over the wall power. He seems to be more of what we already have, a fast, decent fielding OBP based guy with gap power. Sure that's useful, but man I'd really rather focus on guys who can hit the ball over the fence. We need at least 2 more of those!

straight up question (not necessarily am I supporting this but want to gauge the group)

Would you support a Teheran for Gallo trade straight up, one for one?

Not me. I also don't think either team would. But Gallo has too much swing and miss. He will be huge or a bust. Too much risk for a one for one imo.

I'd be tempted but I'd probably say no due to the risk with Gallo and hold out for a less risky return. I expect Gallo to be a first baseman or LF long term and I expect the Rangers keep him rather than trade him. Further, I think they're more likely to trade pending free agent Moreland for relief help (maybe to Mets or someone needing a first baseman that can also play LF). If Moreland starts hitting enough to make that happen.

IMO we don't match with Texas that much

I think we could for one of our bullpen arms, but not for Teheran we don't right now. If they lost one of their top three starters to injury (Darvish, Hamels or Perez), then they'd be a match but barring that I think Texas is set up fine rotation wise.
