Folks need to read their Gordon Wood. He's a little too stuck on the Founders, but he charts America's path from the Republic envisioned by them to the more democratic system that it morphed into within two generations.

Btw, goldfly if you're trying to imply that Lebanon is a modern democracy you don't know what you're talking about. For someone who went to the Middle East you sure don't know much about the region.

1. Because Snowden broke the law and doesn't want to go to federal pound you in the ass prison.

2. He is a tool of the Russians. I mean use common sense. If he was a real threat who wasn't protected he would have been killed a long time ago. Don't bother mentioning the kill switch things he has. Anything in there that long would be contained by now and it would be bad but hardly keep him alive worthy after his recent posts. Also look at what he says about Russians. It's nothing.

If you want to build a case for whistleblowers, don't include Assange who didn't do **** for CHelsea Manning. He's an attention whore.
 
LOL... if what he exposed was public info he wouldn't be in trouble,and thus wouldn't need to be in exile.

And he's a tool of the russians... that's all you guys have these days. THE RUSSIANS!!!!! Providing exile for someone doesn't not make that person a pawn. It's a joke that he needs it. But that is our country - bull **** authoritarian who gives us the illusion of choice

I'm not disagreeing with you on Snowden. IMO OBama should have pardoned him. Now that Trump is in the White House his usefulness to Putin is ending I expect him to be extradited before the year is over in a win-win for Russia as Trump will extradite an asset of theirs that we probably have in a secret prison.

He is a tool of the Russians, I've speculated that for months. If you doubt me, even though I've said it months beforehand

You are a young man and I understand that Snowden means a lot to your generation. We had our Daniel Ellsburg.

But since WWI, surveillance of the US population has consistently ramped up. If J. Edgar Hoover were alive today, you'd need a forklift to lift the dossier on Trump and Snowden would have been dead before he left the country.
 
So when did Snowden and Assange fall out of favor with certain folk on here? I thought they were heroes? Good guys. I'm having a hard time keeping up I suppose.

I don't think Steaksauce was ever in favor of Snowden, he outed Obama era ****.

I've been against Assange since he raped a woman and wouldn't stand trial. After reading more into him including something by a ghost writer of his autobiography, he just seems like a pretty terrible person ingeneral. Add in other things, and you'd think he's pretty scummy too.
