Thread for Games ...

Can't remember....has RA had any good outings yet? Sure it's preseason and can be taken with a grain of salt. I would like to see at least a "few" solid starts ??

RA is knuckleball pitcher and just trying to get ready for the season, he's not really concerned about results but more getting ready. He also didn't start his previous start before today against the Phillies because it would've been back-to-back and he doesn't want them knowing what to expect from him during the season. He also threw a lot of fastballs against them his first start too. Even today vs Detroit he gave up a homer on a 3-1 count fastball that he said he wouldn't throw in that count during the season. So I am not concerned about him at all, I just want him to get ready and have his knuckleball working when it counts.

That said, I am more concerned about Colon because he's almost two years older and while coming off a good year he is at that age most fall off if they haven't already. But even with him I cannot say much based on spring training as look at his career spring ERA that is almost 6! IOW, Colon has a history of poor springs followed by good seasons so who knows what to expect. I would look more for if he is losing too much velocity than spring results. I'm not sure his average spring velocity so far though outside of one game.

BTW, I am expecting RA Dickey to be among our best starters this year as he's coming back to the NL East where he's been very successful in the past. Plus he did bad pitching in Toronto but good pitching on the road last year. Toronto is a hard place for any pitcher whereas the new park in Cobb should be more pitcher friendly as will pitching in NY, Miami, etc. Plus he will get to face pitchers again instead of the DH too. All things considered I would argue it's very realistic that he at least does as well as he did in Toronto prior to last season and has the potential to be even better here.

How should Suntrust be more pitcher friendly when they've brought in the fences to make it easier for guys like Freeman to unload and gotten rid of a lot of foul territory?!

Folty's "improvement" has been minimal at best - to this point.

No one doubts who has the higher ceiling. Again, other than the K/BB Rate they've essentially been the exact same Pitcher - and Wisler is 1/2 year younger.

Surely you guys aren't using something other than just the numbers to decide that Folty is - or will be - better, are you??? Please don't tell us your EYES tell you that.

Here you go clvclv... learn something (source Braves Prospects on Twitter):

Folty's last 7 GS - 39.1 IP, 10 BB, 42 K, 3.17 FIP.

Middle 7 GS - 42 IP, 14 BB, 34 K, 3.60 FIP

First 8 GS - 42 IP, 11 BB, 35 K, 5.88 FIP

That's minimal improvement?

If zb is calling you stupid...chances are you're the least intelligent poster on the message board.

Anyone who thinks Wisler can even hold Folty's jockstrap is a complete fool. Folty has a non-zero chance to be the undisputed Ace of this staff by the end of the year. Wisler will be lucky to still have a job at the MLB level at the end of this year.

Come on... you know you love me

Folty throwing well so far: 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K. One hit was an infield single, the other a broken bat single.
