2018 Offseason And Targets

I heard some of the Bumgarner chatter to and it makes sense. He’s from the area and is a Braves fan so he could turn things around here. I’d offer say Bryse Wilson and one other smaller prospect and see if they bite but nobody like the names mentioned above. If we could get Bumgarner for Wilson and then trade Newk for Peralta we would still have plenty of ammo for JTR. That would be an amazing offseason.

As long as we trade Newk, I’m fine with the offseason.

I have followed the board for years and appriciate the advanced stats that you and others have put out, but i still dont see enough of an upgrade to warrant a Gohora, Wilson or even Wentz imo

I 100% agree that Gray isn’t worth a pitcher like that. My comment was more about the angle that he isn’t an upgrade over Teheran, which he pretty clearly is.

If the package expands to Gray plus Frazier then it starts to make sense to talk about guys like Gohara.

If the Yankees sign Machado, we should check on what they want for Andujar. The bat is special enough to probably compensate for whatever learning curve is involved in a move to the outfield.

He IS a upgrade over Julio, but he might end up not being any better. I like the chances of him having a good year though. Contract years are magic years lol

this is kind of a silly standard.

I would trade him in the right deal. He probably has the most value of any current pitcher we have (including Folty because of the years of control).

Newk might just figure things out. He’s shown flashes. Then again...he may just end up being Newk.

With all the bickering about who said what, when, and where, and preaching about who should/not be traded for whom, a Braves story has been over looked and forgotten. Braves have signed only 1 of 8 Arby eligible players to date. Friday is date to exchange salary figures.

They're asking for too much - wait 'em out another 5 weeks and the prices will come down.

I have a feeling the JTR stuff really took its toll on Grandals market. If he really did turn down the Mets 4/60 he is a moron.

Guessing this is where you're going to see the new trend in the market. Non-elite players with QO's attached to them will start taking 1 year deals and re-enter the market a year later to try and get that 3-4 year deal. Pretty risky for a catcher, but I guess it depends on what his offers were. Highly doubt the Braves dabble in this market with the recent sanctions against them, but it'd be pretty awesome to get Pollock or Kuechel on a 1 year deal.

I remember when some people on here were thinking he'd get something like 4/80 or something. If you'd have told me that we could have Grandal for 1/18 at the start of the offseason, I'd have done it in a freaking heartbeat. I'm honestly shocked that AA didn't explore this option more, even after the McCann signing.

Damn.

If he shows well again in 2019, he may be a good option for the Braves now that the QO is out the window. Another reason to hold firm re Realmuto.
