The Coronavirus, not the beer

There is never any humility. I am cracking up at the responses though... "they cant see them due to the pile of dead corpses from ending net neutrality " lol

There are some increases in positive case percentages in georgia/Texas.

Can't get good data for Texas hospitalizations but Georgia is seeing a slight uptick. Will be interesting to see where this trend goes.

At a minimum, we should expect cases to go up.

It's not the end of the world. People can handle it and immunity will be build. Vulnerable people should take precautions.

This isn't hard

No question about it. My only concern is that we didn't let the virus rip through non vulnerable segments of the population so positive increases will be misinterpreted. The true assessment of the strategy, which we are now starting to see in Sweden, is the lower death counts as this lags 4-6 weeks from infection.

There is nothing wrong with increased positives in a vacuum.

The left can just say whatever it wants with no repercussion because the DNC propaganda arm will never hold them accountable

I'm still curious why nobody wants to talk about how Fergueson is an absolute fraud.

Meta, care to chime in?

Didn't stop her from politicizing it with the rest of the disgusting left in the country.

Pathetic. Who would ever let these idiots hold any power?

9% of Americans have diabetes

40% of Americans are obese

16% of Americans are 65 or older

30% of Americans have hypertension

9% of adults have been diagnosed with cancer

I'm sorry your scared. But the other conditions are just another fear tactic.

The data is clear that it acts essentially as a flue for anyone under 50. And progressively gets worse and quite serious for very elderly people.

It's not that difficult to manage this. But the notion that the vast majority of the population must shelter in place in order to protect a tiny fraction is completely backwards logic

The goal should never have been for a low infected population percentage. It should have been controlling who was getting infected.

Much different task but has proven to be the best strategy.

I've seen this repeated multiple times, but the point being made seems strange. The flu also gets much more serious for the very elderly. It's more like a young person getting COVID-19 is on par with someone well into middle age (I presume this is the "median" case) getting the flu, in terms of mortality.

The 2024 republican filed is absolutely loaded. DeSantis has run is state masterfully.

i only speak for myself

but i have had a cold, the flu and covid19 and am under 50

hell, i'm under 40 lol

covid19 was not "Essentially the flu". it kicked my ass the way the flu wishes it could kick your ass. that's the only way i would describe them in the same sentence

It's an interesting finding.

I'll offer my interpretation of what is going on.

In the great majority of states, the reproduction rate declined in late March/early April after a series of measures were taken (schools closing, spontaneous social distancing, lockdowns, travel restrictions). The combined effects of those measures was to bring down the reproduction rate. There has been a fair amount of uncertainty about the relative importance of those measures. Statistically it is hard to tease out given that in most places they occurred at about the same time.

Now we are left with social distancing in places that have reopened. On average, this seems to have resulted in the reproductive rate holding steady or down slightly in the states that have reopened.

The international data is more positive in showing large decreases in infection rates.

So it may be that voluntary social distancing is enough to bring down the reproductive rate. Let's hope so.

I have a 39-year old friend who um is strongly influenced by right-wing media. He is in very good shape. He got very sick from COVID and put out word in his circle of friends that it is not a minor thing. His wife and daughters also got sick but their symptoms were very mild compared to his. Mostly headaches and loss of sense of taste in their cases.

Cross referencing severe cases of COVID and vitamin d deficiencies yield interesting results.

Correlation is not causation and all that jazz.
