Minor league thread

Gotta figure Schuster sees some time in ATL this year, especially if he keeps pitching the way he has.

I'm just not sure he is going to be useful with a 90-92 FB that seems flat.

He's been hurt so he doesn't have a lot of experience.

Last I heard the change up is really good and the slider is good with a chance to be plus. But a fastball that bad makes it hard for me to see him being an impact guy.

Yeah our minor league pitching options are pretty bleak. Strider threw 70+ pitches last night so he needs to be the #5 starter. Let him go 80 pitches on his days starting would probably be our best bet.

Strider is our best one at this point. Or best that is close. Touki still can’t throw strike. Ynoa is broken. Tucker and elder are garbage throwers with nothing elite. Muller. Is he even relevant anymore.

I like the idea of opener and strider. Just need our pen to be better.

My boy Mezquita keeps killing it at Augusta. Think his average is up in the .360s now with plenty of XBHs… I’m telling you guys, pay attention to this kid. Probably should get promoted to Rome soon.

Use minter as the opener for strider

He only needs it as a show me pitch. Plenty of starters rely heavily on 2 pitches these days if they are both plus.

Fried sometimes throws his changeup out there. But he's obviously fastball and curve dominant. He throws a cutter in there too as well to mix it up.

I think you folks have the 5 spot nailed with Strider as the bulk guy plus an opener, with the opener's handedness determined by the platoon matchups of the other team's top 3 batters.

If Strider begins by facing the 4th or 5th batter he can face 20-25 hitters while only facing the Top 3 batters 2 times.

For those wondering, that is the point of the opener. Guarantee yourself the platoon advantage vs the Top 3 batters in the 1st inning, then let the bulk guy face everyone 3 times except for the most dangerous 3-4 hitters in the lineup.

Considering the Brewers started their lineup L/R/L, it could be argued Chavez wasn't the correct guy to open for Strider last night.
