Official official offseason thread

I want the Braves to sign Correa. We are still $75 million under the third tier of the luxury tax.

With all the talk of signing deGrom, I figured we'd at least make a big splash somewhere.

Still waiting.

I am in favor of something like 12 years, $350 million.

I want Correa too, i dont know if AA is going to that kind of deal for him. But nothing leaks from him so who the hell knows. Guessing Giants give him what they offered Judge but slightly less AAV. Twins want him back too.

Swanson would be wise to wait out Correa. Then he'll really get overpaid. Seems to be me the Giants would just offer Correa what they were willing to pay Judge and maybe go another year or two longer on the deal. Although I did read somewhere that if they got any of the other shortstops, they would move them to another position and keep Crawford at short.

Swanson would probably be the last one to sign to see who misses on Correa.

Machado has 32 million for the next 5 years on his contract. Would be a FA at 36. I guess he could opt out and get more money from the Padres or someone else next winter.

Next year is his age 31 season. So he will likely get someone to pay 6 or 7 years at a higher AAV than he has now. Especially after seeing the amount of money thrown around this offseason.

Jon Heyman reported it several times.

Normally I’d believe it but after his Judge to the Giants tweet, who knows. Also I’d have to imagine AA had to have some idea of the market and these inflated prices. If he did, and still turned down 6/140 then he really doesn’t want Swanson back.

Crazy that he offered the Braves a 6 year / $140m counter offer that the Braves declined. Hate to say it, but that seems like a hometown discount at this point.

We dont know if thats true or not but even for the most negative fans on Dansby. 6/140 would be a coup if thats actually true. He's probably gonna clear that by 30-50 million or more if someone would give him 200.

Dansby gonna be the Javy Baez of this year? If anybody gives him over 150 million it’s gonna look horrible

I propose that the Braves should pivot to the outfield market. Pay up for LF and cheap on SS. Just spit-balling here: Brandon Nimmo was a 5 win player last year, as were Dansby and Correa. Sure, they're not the same players. Nimmo was projected to get $100mm and Dansby and Correa might get 2-3 X that. This might drive Nimmo's price way up but still a better deal than the SS's. The play might be: Nimmo at a surprisingly high price (7/150) and a much cheaper SS on a 1-3 year deal.

And this would have the added benefit of further weakening the Mutts.

I agree. Maybe drop Acuna to 2 in the lineup for some healthy RBI chances.

Problem is sorryio and boozuna. Those are expensive bench bags in your scenario

Any deal for Nimmo has to include a clause that he will stop sprinting to first base after a walk otherwise I will be endlessly irritated.
