Top 5 as of now but if the top 5 teams spend more then that sets us behind them even more. That puts them over $230M which is very close to Top 5.
Lopez has 1 year left and if you're taking a player owed a lot more or for multiple years then I could see it.Why in the world would any team want a $14M arm who didn’t pitch in 2025 due to shoulder issues?
Don't forget Brett Sears. I think he figures into the BP rotation between AAA and the MLB as well.I think Lara and Sinnard are gonna play big roles in the BP this year along with a few other guys but they can't be counted on right away. We need one elite type of bullpen arm and one other really reliable arm. AA doesn't mind spending big on the BP so I think he'll get that fixed but the Lopez talk scares me bc he no doubt needs to be a BP arm going forward.
I forgot about Sears. We have a lot of young depth coming and it's quality depth. I wouldn't be opposed to having Diddier coming out of the bullpen at some point when he's ready to help out.Don't forget Brett Sears. I think he figures into the BP rotation between AAA and the MLB as well.
No one "wants" him per se. The basic idea is that he is used to off-set some difference in payroll coming our way. For instance, if we traded for Sonny Gray. The Card are gonna have to eat money to move him. Rather than send physical money over, they could take on Lopez and maybe they could talk themselves into thinking he's worth the gamble in case he comes regains his form. They would likely have had to eat the 14 million regardless to move him.Why in the world would any team want a $14M arm who didn’t pitch in 2025 due to shoulder issues?
This is it. We could send a couple of good prospects back to get Winn and Donovan also.No one "wants" him per se. One name that just opted out that is really intriguing is Jorge Polonco with the Mariners.
Yeah I know. He opted out. He hasn't played SS in a minute but he has a good bat that can DH and play most of the INF.He's a FA
