Add in to that $57M is deferred making the real value (in todays dollars) ~$140M over 6 years. He really misplayed that one.

We could always let Duval go somewhere else. We can trade for him at the deadline.

No kidding, you know how much is cost to fill up the lawn mower tank nowadays.

I like Rosario, but it is still not enough. Ozuna & Rosario can only play LF, so that leaves Duval & Acuna as CF/RF with no rest or backup if anyone misses games.

I agree completely. When I heard the news yesterday, I had 30 seconds of shock, but then a day of awe. We now have the better 1B for the next 2 years (watch the data over the next 2 years), for 1/2 the price. He is going to hit 900+ OPS with 40 HRs. He is a local kid (from my HS). He is a...

Have we heard anything about Soroka coming back?

Very True... in fact if he is 2020 Ozuna, then on paper adding Acuna & Ozuna to a playoff team is quite impressive. Even switching out Soler & Rosario for Ozuna and Acuna is still an upgrade.

He really replaces a Pitcher, as the DH. Everyone is adding that bat, so the Braves need him just to keep up.

I am growing impatient with the Atlanta Braves also, I wonder if the Dodgers would hire me.

The players do not want a more level playing field or competitive landscape. They want more money, more money sooner, more control over what they chose to do with their career, & more long term protection to collect as they get worse personally. That is really it. They get it from teams like...

If you are going to give him the opt out, then shorten the contract. 5 years with an opt out after 3. That way if he is really good for 3 years he can opt out and get a 3-4 yr deal. If he starts to decline, then he is only owed 2 more years. Bet on yourself FF.

This is very tricky because not only does he stay expensive potentially past his value, but everyone else gets very expensive during his contract (Riley, Ronald, Fried, Anderson, Soroka, etc). You start thinking about 1-3 of them making 15M more and you wonder who we have to lose to keep Freddie.

They are not at all the same hitters but Riley gives me hope in Pache. It is hard to forget Pache's MLB performance this year, in the same light as it was hard to forget Riley's 2nd half performance of 2019. Pache has obviously been working on some changes based on his results at AAA this...

was driving today and listening t MLB radio go on and on about Verlander and Max. I thought, if somehow we could get Soler, Rosario, Freeman, and add Max (for 2 years)....wow...with Acuna & Soroka coming back, what a team that would be.

Maybe we can trade him to the Mets. They seem to have an affinity for quality players that do not actually play being on their payroll.

How Long Is Our Contention Window Set To Remain Open?

I know every fan feels like this after a WS victory, but I rally feel like we are entering a window like Houston has been in the last 5 years. I see more reason to believe we will be in 2 more WS in the next 4 years than to think we will miss the playoffs in the next 4 years. After that, it...

How Long Is Our Contention Window Set To Remain Open?

So many things change year to year, Does Swanson stay? Does SP get hurt? Do we resign FF? Does payroll get too big with this core? it is hard to say, but I think it is 7+ years. (And that is a long time) Ronald, Ozzie, & Riley peak before settling over the next 7 years. Anderson, Soroka have...

As I understand it, if Duval accepts his side, he gets $7M. If he declines his option, he gets $3M + whatever he can get in arbitration or FA, so MLBTR estimates $9M. Would you pick $7M or $12M. There is no way he accepts his option, so it is if the Braves tender him or not.
