2016 Election Coverage: Aka Every Way You Look at it You Lose.

The song followed Rush's reading that article.

"The song picked up on a March 2007 comment article in the liberal Los Angeles Times in which David Ehrenstein argued that part of Mr Obama’s role was ‘to assuage white “guilt” over the role of slavery and racial segregation in American history’."

Explain. The song was written in 2007 and Rush played it on his show during the 2008 campaign and I believe after Obama was elected.

Right. Rush or someone working for him read that 2007 article. They have Shanklin do the parody, trying to make the political point. It comes across popularly as being worse.

Well, the writer of the song is a conservative comedian and while I can't get into his mind, I hardly think the work was meant as a compliment.

I'm not saying it was. But the point was really about white guilt.

That may well be, but as you and I probably both know, that wasn't Rush's likely intent. I don't want to go off on Rush here. He's an entertainer. Maher does the same thing from the other side with at least as much venom as Rush. Truth matters less than perception in this stuff.

I listened to Rush a lot back during that time period and I remember that's what his stated reason for the parody was - after all parody is a form of satire (in this case some poor Horatian satire) - making fun of the white-guilt supporters of Obama. I can't speak to his real, heart, intent.

I cant defend these cry in areas but if you're following news there's a lot of nastiness going on in the name of Trump. Whether it's elementary school high school or college.

A lot of these stunts are purely awful.

I sincerely hope Trump denounces these things really soon.

I'd like to point out, as a fervent anti-Trump person, that this nonsensical push to steer faithless electors away from Trump is pathetic and dangerous. I'm all for a discussion on the merits of the electoral college, but based on the system of governance we have, Trump should be our next President. I think we really ought to consider reform to the electoral system to prevent this sort of thing from even being possible.

And while I'm chiding my Democrat compatriots, I think it's worth noting that President Obama did not help matters this election. To be clear, I'm an unabashed Obama supporter who would love nothing more than 4 more years. I also want to make it clear that I agree 100% with pretty much every criticism he made of Trump during the campaign and thus recognize the importance of having someone in a unique position to get through that message to thousands, if not millions of Americans who otherwise wouldn't have listened to it. However, when a suddenly popular sitting President goes on the offensive about how unfit and incapable a candidate is for the Presidency, and that person then becomes the President-elect, it's going to contribute to some of what we're currently seeing. I'm not sure exactly what the answer was for President Obama, but I think a different strategy would have been better in hindsight.

Not a fan of blatant trolling, lies, and deceit.

For the second time in the history of this forum, I've decided to ban someone for a while.

Don't think it was serious honestly. Probably just a stupid thing like Dicks Out For Harambe.

But I see you've been licking your chops at anything that might involve the left looking stupid like this since the election.

I don't see you posting the articles of people doing outrageously stupid things in the name of Trump since he won. On election day you were talking about how the stock market losing points was a sign Hilary was their candidate, then gloating about the market rallying behind Trump.

My biggest pet peeve is hypocrisy. The left practices it religiously and I like to point it out
