2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

Well from the links I provide you, you know it's not just now a "feeling that it's happening." Smh.

If you think I'm intent on laying the blame for the Trump phenomenon outside the Republican party then either I'm not communicating well or you are wanting to read me that way or a combination thereof. Certainly there's a large swathe (what between 30-45%?) of the Republicans that are the reason he's winning. The point I'm adding, that it seems you've been pretty steadfast in wanting to dismiss (for what reason I don't know), is that there's also a substantial (see the poll link that I've provided for you) of Democrats across the South (though smaller than it would have been 15-20 years ago), in Appalachia, and across now, as we are seeing, the Rust Belt, that are drawn to Trump. I have no idea why that's so hard for you to swallow. Are you embarrassed by it? Think knuckle draggers are only found across the aisle? I think Budweiser does pretty good on both sides of the aisle.

I based that conclusion on your posting articles blaming Obama, etc, for Trump's rise, not just your blue/yellow dog scenario.

Think knuckle draggers are only found across the aisle?

The last time we had an exchange about it, I noted a personal experience that pretty conclusively indicated otherwise. Am I embarassed by it? Yeah, but not so much as a Democrat than as an American.

Still, given the numbers we're looking at, I think you're giving disproportionate weight to the phenomenon.

Douthat's down to stop the Trump Train at all costs. This is gonna be one helluva spectacle.

"The Party Still Decides

...
So in Cleveland this summer, the men and women of the Republican Party may face a straightforward choice: Betray the large minority of Republicans who cast their votes for Trump, or betray their obligations to their country.

For a party proud of its patriotism, the choice should not be hard."

*Sweet

*This is solely my opinion. I am making no claims other than I think Bernie got her there.

Is that the "where was Bernie when I was fighting for health care" remark? LOL, I'm going to use that one. On a more personal note my job situation has been hurt recently by the DUMAS state of AR, taking one of the courses I regularly taught, Geography, out of the "required" course areas. You see, I"m one of those crazy teachers who thinks it's important to have some effing clue where different places are, and that knowing your states and capitals and as much about the rest of the world as possible really is still important. Go figure.

Back to Hilldog, obviously the geography of "where was Bernie" isn't important, ie he's right behind you, you powermad beeotch.

I'll try to provide a sufficient number of qualifications, caveats, and nuance next time. Let me know if I do a better job.

Oh, have you thought further about the Democrats for Trump thingy?

You guys know, or should know anyway, that I am now and always have been on the "all rich people who use their money to try and lead other people astray so the wealthy can have even more power and money and control are bad, right?

With that said is there actual proof that Soros is behind this or is this just more speculation?

Very good piece.

no it is not. it is historically inaccurate and self serving to the point of making me vomit.

Where was Douhat when Trump ranted about birth certificates. Where was Douhat when Palin rallies were dress rehearsals for the current Trump campaign --

why isn't Douhat railing to the point of throw the bums out over the current SCOTUS vacancy.

Speaking of principled GOP

Douhat seems always a day late to the party.

Read below the fold

I know most of you guys are from the South, though Southeast is not necessarily the same thing as South Central at least not across the board. Down here, for the past few years, if someone's running for dog catcher they point out how "I'm against Obama and everything he stands for" type of crap and "you have to follow your party's line or you're not worthy to be elected" and that sort of crap. Well I watched more of the Repub debate last night than I have at any point so far (about 5 minutes worth) and I saw Rafael Cruz try that sort of "you want to be included with the cool kids approach and be all Repub all the time, right" approach against Trump, stating that "he has associated with and has supported Liberal Democrats for the past 40 years" and got some cheers from the crowd and then Trump came back with the "I've supported some Democrats over the years and I've supported some Repubs over the years" and I've gotten things done, I've worked with both sides and this partisan stuff is what's killing America.

Now while there are definitely a lot of things I don't like about Trump, I absolutely applaud him for that one, both now and in the past. If the far left or the far right had their heads out of their arses enough to get some actual oxygen to their brains they're realize that partisan politics is much more of a threat to this country than ISIS or Al Qaeda or anything else for that matter. As Trump also pointed out, democracy only works when there is compromise.

Rubio got 101,633 votes in Arkansas, and 9 delegates. He got 1059 votes in DC, and 10 delegates.

What a way to pick a president.

please show me a "Far Left" case comparable to the Senate refusing to hear a SCOTUS nominee

please show me where a "Far Left" Senate Majority Leader said his pupose wsto block a duly elected President then carry that out.

pease show me where the "far Left" went to the lengths the GOP did a few years back to deny Obama was a citizen

please show me where a "Far LEft" Congress voted over 50 times - knowing it would be vetoed - to repeal, without an alternative, a Presidents signature legislative accomplishment

Please stop with the both sides do it nonsense.
Because, it just isn't true

Surprised a states rightser like yourself would not know that each state and each states party appartatus has it's own criteria for selecting delegates

you don't understand the nomination process..
Go read -

" Under the U.S. Constitution, each state legislature is allowed to designate a way of choosing electors. "
