If the blurb about Britton is correct, how do you fill out pen?

Right: o'day, viz, winkler,
Left: Britton, minter, lindgren,

How much would Sergio Romo and Jonny venters cost?

What would Simmons cost? Heck wonder if we could pry JUp away too?
I'll add Simba to the list. That would be a big upgrade at the weakest position, and the Angels seem destined to do a mini rebuild if they are keeping Trout.

Probably Newk and Dansby as the main crux of a deal I would imagine.

With Trout only being signed for a few more years and them not being very good they could use the money saved from Upton and Simmons to upgrade the rotation. So your package may not be as far off as you think. We’d have to add another piece or 2 probably but it could happen.

The angels are not trading away Simmons and JUp.

My god people, the ignorant rosterbation around here gets worse and worse every year.

I’m really curious to see what the Mariners do. No farm left, tough division. They have a few pieces left to start a rebuild and prevent 10 years of darkness. I’d pay a lot to get Haniger.

You're right

They aren't that smart

They are in need of a full rebuild and have the players to trade away to help them tremendously. They are old and unplayable in a lot of areas with key parts hurt (Ohtani)

The haul they could get for Trout, Simmons and JUp and Calhoun would be Huge assuming the no trades could be navigated.

They aren't competing with Trout and it's highly unlikely they keep him after 2020. JUp is good value now but would be an absolute albatross when they no longer have Trout. Simmons' contract is up after 2020 as well.

If they rebuilt now, by the time their window opens they would have weathered the disastrous Pujols contract.

They need good young players who will project to arrive in the 2020-21 time frame. Ohtani likely won't hit for the full 2019 season and definitely won't pitch until 2020.

They can't win with what they have. They already have a big payroll. They've got a ton of dead money tied up in Pujols. There best young talent hope just underwent TJ. They reside in the same division as the currently awesome Astros.

Would you take a chance on a Seager/Haniger package? Seager had a tough year and is owed 19/19/18/15 over the next 4 years. He was 4-7 WAR until dropping to 2.5 last year and 0.8 this year. He would play next year at 31. If you squint hard, you might see the 3B equivalent of the Markakis signing.

If he cuts the cost of Haniger it might be worth it. If Seager finds new life, you would have a bargain. Would allow you to use Camargo as Util and or trade and Riley as trade or 1B long term. Hanigers payroll cost is pretty much nothing in baseball terms so averaging him and Seager and comparing to FA cost could be attractive.

Of course, I know Seager mainly by reputation so maybe he's done.

We may still be the cream of the crop.

Which makes gracing us with his presence so sad. Since there's no one on this planet (certainly this particular forum) with his infinite knowledge and understanding, you'd think that someone would have developed their own private think tank by now.
