2020 Trade Deadline Thread

As Scheff said, Cleveland is likely looking up flip prospects for a bat. My guess is they want Gallo or Marte. Waters would make sense for both Texas or AZ if they are trading a CFer.

If they want Marte and mainly want win now pieces, why wouldn't they just deal directly with the Diamondbacks?

Sherman- As a way to gain leverage, #Indians have told interested clubs they’re in 1st place, love Clevinger’s talent, have 2 more years of control on him and are built on SP. Yet every exec I talk to offers some version of “They are trading Clevinger.”

Mentioned a Wright/Touki/Wilson for Clevinger in post #254 - if Wright/one of Touki or Wilson/Waters would net Cleveland Gallo and Trevino their offense improves by leaps-and-bounds, and they'd just slide Plesac back into their rotation.

Even if they decided they wanted offense from the Braves without making another trade, Waters and Contreras are huge upgrades over what they have at CF and C right now.

You're wrong then. There isn't a front office in the world that would consider trading for players who haven't yet succeeded in AAA as addressing a weakness for the playoffs.

When your CF is Delino DeShields and your Catcher is Roberto Perez, I bet you're wrong.

Not everybody's scared to death to give young players a chance when they've got black holes on their roster. Worry about 2026 when you get to 2024.

They're leading their division and have the best pitching staff in the game - their offense isn't great, but everyone needs to realize that they're better than the Twins as things stand today - this isn't a rebuilding team.

They can trade Clevinger and replace him with Plesac IF they get two pieces that can help their offense tomorrow - otherwise there's not a lot of reason for them to move Clevinger. "Rebuilds" don't have to be tear-downs.

How in the hell do Waters and Contreras help their offense now? Are you taking the piss?

They're not shopping him for marginal upgrades, sorry - if AA wants him, it's going to SERIOUSLY hurt and will probably cause this board to finally melt down.

Jesus. I see why Enscheff gives you so much grief now. The point of what I posted just zoomed way over your head.

Have you actually looked at what they're getting from DeShields and Perez?

DeShields is a younger Inciarte, and Perez makes Flowers look like an All-Star.

PASSAN BOMB: Outfield prospect Taylor Trammell is headed to Seattle in the deal that will send Austin Nola to the Padres, sources tell ESPN. This is a seven-player trade, per sources.

Clevinger I think gets traded it’s just a matter of where. Every team that trades for him are gonna be in the playoff race and aren’t gonna trade a big piece of their MLB offense for him. Hi end MILB pieces like Waters is the best they are gonna get from a contender. They are just gonna have to flip that to a non contender for the piece they need.

Cleveland has no reason to trade Clevinger. Unless they are blown away from an offer I think trading him is pretty unlikely.
