2024 Minor League Thread

I thought Baldwin was gonna win also. He was smoking the ball. He’s becoming a legit prospect at a premium position.

Jose Perdomo making his professional debut at SS in the Dominican Summer League today. Should be interesting to watch.
Perdomo and Guanipa are my great hopes. I like Gil,Robert Gonzalez is intriguing...I stopped watching Augusta this year. Rome has been good to watch. Watched 2 FCL games and one didn't have Guanipa. Need one to two more good international haul..but the lower levels are..not strong.

Gil's stat lines last year and this year have looked solid. Really good K and BB rates, which is where it usually starts for me. Could be a $100,000 bargain. He's played around the infield, so he may slide over to 3B if and when Perdomo heads to the FCL.

Or he’s hurt because he got hit in the wrist. I don’t know, one seems more likely than the other.

I don't know. A roster move has to be made. There'd be no reason to announce a call up during the ASG. If he's coming up they'd announce the day of. Also with the outright already being made they could just be resting the wrist and not risking any injury in AAA.

Also Arcia's fallen to below replacement level. Nacho doesn't have a very high bar to clear to be useful

Went to a couple Greenjackets games. You are not lying. Talent is SLIM down here.

But he actually has to be able to play SS. That’s pretty important.

Yeah have people forgotten Grissom already? That was the worst defense I've ever seen from someone an MLB team allowed to play SS. Despite that, the worst you'd hear from prospect writers was usually something like 'unlikely to stick at SS.'

Arcia has been the worst qualified hitter in the majors by a fair margin since May 1. If Nacho could play SS he'd be up already.

Arcia likely isn't this bad. But he probably isn't as "good" as last year would have led us to believe. I would expect some turn around as the season goes on in the chance that we stick with him. But I have to believe we are looking at upgrades here, even if only marginal upgrades.

Maybe I am misremembering, but I recall much of Grissom's issues being his arm strength, which was well below average. Also, I recall his footwork around 2b was sloppy a few times as well. But mostly just I recall him having a pea-shooter.

Grissom was so bad out there that he's given everyone PTSD.

Looks like Guanipa, GiI and Garcia are headed to Augusta. There is now a reason to be in Augusta!

I agree. I hadn't thought much of him as a prospect before. It would be big for us if he can replace d'Arnaud next year on the roster. Since we want to get under the luxury cap to reset the penalties that almost 8 million in savings could be important. I also would really like the catchers being opposite side hitters so we can play matchups late game.

All day. He dont have to be a star just be serviceable bc Murphy should get the bulk of the at bats and like you said it saves us 8 million.

There's no way the Braves let TDA go at an 8 mil price point. We all remember the great Catcher crisis of 2021. And both of the last 2 years one of the TDA/Murphy combo missed significant time. Let Baldwin take over for Tromp this offseason and reevaluate again after next offseason
